Tuxie Tuesday
da
Doesn't Josie look good against the red of the kitchen walls? She was being very silly last night. Mom, Dad and Aunt Tiff went for a walk with Maggie again, and when they got back Josie was all over Dad looking for love, then she got behind Mom on the couch and almost got sat on. I don't know what got into her, but she was being a nut! That's usually Maggie's job. Sisters -- that's all I can say.
We're purring for Sweet Praline today. I know she's having surgery, and I'm sure her Mom is very nervous. But I'm also confident that Praline will do well -- she's a trooper!

Mancat Monday (with Maggie, too)
We had another nice weekend, with more nice weather and even a stroller ride for Maggie! We hope we get a lot more of this. Too bad the weekend had to end.

Purring for Praline
I just heard that Sweet Praline needs to have some surgery. Please send her all your purrs. I hope it is just a minor procedure.

Cricket slayer
Dad woke up this morning to find a slain cricket in the kitchen. We're not ones to brag on ourselves, but Dad suspects it was Josie because she really likes to patrol the downstairs at night. It's the first cricket that ever made it into the house, but I suspect it didn't have much time to explore -- we're very efficient hunters. It's getting to be that time of year where intruders try to venture in. We don't get many in the house (very few actually) but there's always the garage to patrol.

Finally Friday
I always love being able to say it's "Finally Friday!" This has been another crazy week, even though I did get to visit a little this week. Mom and Dad promised to get the pictures up this weekend for some posts. We did a Cats in the Window photo shoot yesterday morning before Dad left for work, so we've got some good pictures. It's rainy here, so that means Mom and Dad might have to stay inside with us instead of working in the yard this weekend (but maybe not too rainy that we can't open a window or two).

I'd have a Wordless Wednesday today if SOMEONE would upload a few pictures off the camera... what to do about these people?!?

Cat play house
I probably posted this before, but I'm posting it again in hopes that this time Dad will buy it for me. I want one of these cat play houses.

Finally Friday
It's Finally Friday! We're supposed to have some warm weather this weekend, which means more open windows (and more pictures of us in open windows!) and hopefully some relaxing time with Mom and Dad (although they've threatened to do yard work if it really gets close to 70 outside). Hooray for the weekend!

Mom and Dad are home!
Mom and Dad made it home after their long trek to Ohio, then down to Mississippi and back home. They were helping Mom's Dad move so it wasn't really a vacation for them, even though they were away. We're so happy to have them home. Now it's time to catch up on the snuggling.

Are you home yet?
I'm bored. Mom and Dad have been gone, but should be home soon. At least Aunt Tiff has been coming by and checking on us.
In the meantime, I just have this silliness to watch:
Maggie loves a nip cigar!

We're not up to anything ... really.
Just because Mom and Dad are away, it's not fair to assume we're plotting anything. Can't three cats huddle together and not be up to something?

On the lookout
Last weekend was very nice and warm. We had the windows open and really soaked up some sun. And you know what that meant -- window patrol. Maggie was very watchful of the children across the street and their little dog. You can never be too careful when it comes to sticky people, even when they're not even in your house. This coming weekend isn't going to be as warm, which I guess is OK because Mom and Dad have a trip to go on anyway, so the windows wouldn't be opened if we wanted to.

Last whine about change
You know for some of us, change doesn't come easy. A while back Blogger made some template changes that allowed some more, easier user controls for the templates and the addition of gadgets like the followers badge. The issue that I had when I changed was I lost my old comments. The older Blogger template had added comments a few years earlier, but that was after I started using Haloscan. So I decided to forego the gadgets and keep the old comments. Until Haloscan changed and I learned they would charge to host comments. I could have kept the old template with my stat tracker and added Blogger comments, but decided that, since I'm already changing, I'd rather have access to gadget like the followers in the sidebar. That really has more value than some abstract stats anyway. It really is interesting to see how the entire blogging scene has evolved over the last five-and-a-half years. And although I was a little fussy earlier, I'm excited now, and look forward to seeing how things will look in another five years.
My stats
I know the stats aren't that big a deal, but I thought they were fun to sometimes look at. Over the years, here what I compiled up to today:
I average 40 visits a day, with my highest day being 136 on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. My average week was 276 visits, and my highest week was 877 on the ninth week of 2006. I average 1205 visits a month and my highest month was 2461 in August 2008. Most cats visits between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. and the most common day is Wednesday (but just barely edging Tuesday by 54 visits). I've had 78343 visits to the blog.
Now I'll see if I can reload the tracker ... see if you can teach an old blog new tricks.

OK, I made the switch
OK ... I made the big switch from the old template to the new and improved template. It makes me very nervous. I lost ALL my old comments because of what appears to be a very silly move by the people hosting my comments. It almost feels like I'm starting from scratch. Weird.
I just realized I lost my stat tracker too. I know they'd wanted me to upgrade, but I would have lost five years worth of stats. Bittersweet. (Hey, Blogger, why don't you track my stats?)

Tuxie Tuesday
Mom and Dad picked up some new chairs for the parlor the other day. It was during the one snowfall we've had in Columbia in the past five years.

Josie approves of the new chairs. She thinks this would be a great place to curl up with a good book (or with Mom while she reads a good book). I tried the chairs out, too, but this is a Tuxie post and I'll save my picture for tomorrow.
As for the comments issue, it looks like I'll be switching over to Blogger's comments soon and dropping the old Haloscan. Like Max and Abby said, why pay for something that we can get free. Especially when the paid product doesn't look all that great. It's definitely more complicated. I made a comment on my own blog, logged in and everything, and it showed me as Guest. What the fluff? I must have deleted the email telling how to back up my old comments, but I'll set Dad on the task of doing that. Thanks for your patients during the transition.

New comment box
Well, it looks like Haloscan upgraded the comment box and I'm just not too sure how I like it. This really puts me at a decision. See, back when I first started this blog Blogger didn't have comments built in (imagine that!) -- so you had to use another comment source. Haloscan was a great, free comment host. I tried to upgrade to the new Blogger template a while back, but couldn't get Haloscan to work with it and reverted back to the old template (same look, fewer features). The real issue is that, if I switch over, I lose all my old comments. I like to be able to go back and read the old comments, especially at the very beginning when cats with blogs was a fledgling thing and I was just meeting people (before there was a Cat Blogosphere to bring us all together). What to do, what to do? I the meantime, please tolerate the new comment window, and remember to do the drop-down and sign in so I see a name, and not Guest. Thanks!

Really enjoying having the windows open today. We've been doing some serious patrolling this afternoon. We've got some pictures that are going to be uploaded tonight, so I'll have some better posts again soon (and hopefully a chance to visit my friends).

Mom still mending
Mom is still on the mend, but feeling much better since she is home with us and getting proper cat care. She's been taking pictures of us tending to her, and snuggling, and doing all the important things cats need to do to help moms heal, but she hasn't had the energy to upload them yet. Hopefully this weekend. Thanks again for all the concern and purrs.

Mom is home
Mom had an infection that was worse than she imagined, and ended up in the hospital for a few days, but thankfully she is home now. Thank you all for all of your healing purrs! She was so happy to know that the Cat Blogosphere was purring for her. It really helped lift her up. But thankfully she is home now and we'll be purring next to her while she rests. Thanks again for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers these last few days.

Drunken robins
Dad had us all excited because he was telling us about how this time of year the robins come and eat the berries off the tree out back of his office and during the day he can see the robins swarming around like a bunch of staggering college students. He said he was going to bring us pictures of the birds (since we really didn't want to get in the car to go see them, as tempting as that may be). But it seems they've already eaten all the berries, or the cold front has scared them away. So I am just left to my imagination. Maybe Mom and Dad will put birdseed in the bird feeder out back this year for us.

Mancat Monday
Huggy Bear and I were very mancatly on Sunday and watched a good bit of the Super Bowl with Mom and Dad. Their team lost, which made them sad. So we've been snuggling with them to make them feel better. Sometimes snuggling is part of being a mancat, too.

Thankful Thursday
Thank you all for your healing purrs ... Mom is feeling better and back at work today. She really wanted to play sick and stay home one more day, but she was feeling too good, and her new work computer was delivered while she was out. So she is very excited about getting a computer that is new and functional (and not a click, wait, go get a drink, wait some more, yea the program loaded computer).

Maggie wasn't the only one keeping Mom company in bed while she was feeling ill. Here's Josie cuddled up at the foot of the bed. I was on Dad's side of the bed and on his pillow and Huggy Bear was guarding the underneath of the bed so monsters can't move in there.

Wordless Wednesday

OK, not completely wordless. Mom's feeling a little yucky, so we're staying in bed with her helping her feel better. It started yesterday and she started to feel good yesterday afternoon, then last night started to crash again so she's home again today. We're sorry she's ill, but happy she's home.

Two for Tuesday
We have been on window patrol lately. It is an important thing to do, and one of our favorite views is of the back yard. We see squirrels, and I expect to be seeing more birds soon. And of course two of our neighbor cats will come and visit, too. Plus this door gets great sun, which is nice for a nap while on window patrol.
Aren't Maggie and Huggy Bear cute together? They're best buds, and hang out all the time. If you find one, the other usually isn't too far away. They really seem to be the only two who don't huff or hiss or fuss at each other.

Mancat update
Well we did a photo shoot this weekend to have new pictures, and some good ones too, and you know what ... they're still on the camera. These people! Keep this up and I may have to trade them in. But we did get some good snuggle time this weekend, which is very important, and enjoyed some hard rain, too. I hope everyone else had a good weekend, too.

Out of sync
I'm all messed up, because I was trying to do a Wordless Wednesday post, only to realize that today is Thursday! Time can go by so fast when you are catnapping in the closet. It's finally starting to warm up some here so we're getting some more garage time, and we are totally loving having Mom home. Sleeping is so much better when you are doing it next to your Mom (even if she's on the laptop or catching up on Iron Chef). We're short on pictures, don't ask me how because they seem to be taking our picture every time we nap, but I'm sure there will be a photo shoot this weekend to make up for it. Hope everyone else is starting to get some warmer weather too.

Mom Day
We are so so so so excited because Mom is staying home today. She was working as the interim administrator of the theatre she's involved with, and the last few weeks she's been training the new executive director and today she's letting him go on his own. Which is super good because we finally get to spend the whole day with Mom again! Can you say "snuggle time!"

How to wrap a cat for Christmas video ... this cat is was more patient than I am. I'd have destroyed the paper long before they could even start. Besides, I'm sure there's some ribbon to chew on.

Tuxie Tabby Tuesday
This is truly a two-fer today ... and possibly the only time you'll ever see this: Maggie and Josie curled up together napping. Usually when Maggie joins Josie there is some butt-biting and hissing and Josie huffs off and Maggie claims Josie's spot. But not this day. No, instead Maggie curled up right with Josie, and even took the same pose as her. Maybe 2010 will turn over a new leaf for the sisters.

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a good New Year's celebration last night. The four of us spent it together in the master bathroom having our own little party while Mom and Dad had a few friends over. Now we're snuggled up with Mom and Dad relaxing and half-watching some football ... the way January 1 is supposed to be spent.

Secret Paws
Our Secret Paws gift came the other day, right as Mom and Dad were heading out of the house. It was cruel torture to have to wait for them to come back so we could open it, but it turned out to be worth the wait! Our Secret Paw was China Cat, and boy did we get spoiled.

Maggie and Josie were quick to investigate the gifts, all wrapped up.

Huggy Bear took time to read the note, like Mom has always taught us.

We got all kinds of great stuff -- orange mice, and wobbly balls, and Temptations, and a Santa mouse that scoots across the floor, and some rattling balls, and a nip cigar that the girls just went nuts over.

Here's Maggie getting the nip cigar. You can tell it's amazing because she's right beside a pack of Temptations and not paying any attention to them.

Huggy Bear claimed the pink wobble ball as his.

Josie claimed the first orange mouse, and went running through the house with it before Mom could even get the tag off.

I got an orange mouse, too.
We must have been very good this year to get such great stuff! Thanks China Cat!
At the beginning, I mentioned that Mom and Dad were leaving when the Secret Paws arrived. They were going to meet Aunt Tiff, and Aunt Tiff had gifts for us, too!I'll post a couple of pictures later, so as to not confuse with the Secret Paws gifts. But I did want to say "Thanks Aunt Tiff!"

Maggie Monday
Maggie and I helped with the gift wrapping this weekend. Maggie decided the scraps of paper left over made a good toy, and lucky for her Mom and Dad agreed.

Mom and Dad took turns throwing the ball to Maggie. Sometimes she would bat it back at them, sometimes she would catch it in mid-air. In this one, she's twisting around to get the ball.

Here's Maggie demonstrating her bat down technique.

And this is the mid-air catch. I like this game too, but only when I'm all by myself. Maggie's pounced me a few too many times in mid-catch for me to relax and play with her around. But everything she knows, she learned from me.

*Christmas card update*
Mom has been a slacker, but she finally has Christmas cards that should be going out before Christmas, and arriving before New Year's. (She says she's been real busy "working" -- whatever that means. I think it's code for "neglecting the cats.")

Finally Friday
It's finally Friday ... Mom and Dad have a Christmas party tonight, but then it's hopefully time with us! I know there's some more shopping they need to do, and hopefully some Christmas cards created and mailed out.

Huggy Bear was in snoopervise mode the other night when Mom and Dad were packing the Secret Paws, even though here it just looks like he's hogging the bed. But trust me, he was snoopervising. And I guarantee that he'll be keeping a close eye on Mom and Dad this weekend to make sure we get our quality time.

Not really Wordless Wednesday
Well, it's supposed to be a Wordless Wednesday, but not quite ... but also not wordy enough to be a Wordy Wednesday. Here's Maggie snoopervising the Secret Paws package that went out yesterday and some of the goodies. There's more in the stocking that's not pictured. You'll just have to wait for our Secret Paw to take pictures to see it all.

Also, I hope Beau Beau and Noni Noni find homes for Christmas.

Our Secret Paws package is in the mail! We are so excited. It was a lot of fun helping Mom and Dad get it all packed up. But it wasn't fun not getting to play with any of it. Oh I want to give a hint ... it would be so easy ... but I can't! I'll post a few helping pictures tomorrow.

Random thoughts on Thursday
Just a few random thoughts. Mom and Dad did a great job shopping for our Secret Paws friend. Oh, I want to give a hint so bad, but I can't. We'll be packing it up soon and getting it out in the mail. Maybe if Mom and Dad can get home before 10 p.m. one night...
Also, if you haven't heard I wanted to remind everyone too, Magoo, Smudge, Bella, Dolci and Baci's Dad is getting ready to start another Chrissymouse story from the Story Chair. He always tells great stories so be sure to check it out.

Cat treats galore
Before I talk about Dad's big score at the store, I should mention about yesterday's Wordless Wednesday: Yes, that was a re-usable Target bag. They make great pillows, and Mom and Dad really like the Target bags that fold up and snap the best, too.
Now, last night Dad got a call from Aunt Tish telling him that the grocery store up the road was closing to move to another location and that everything was 60 percent off. Most of the people food was gone, but the cat food was still stocked pretty good. Dad went a little overboard. He bought a bunch of kitty litter and food, but then he also bought nine bags of cat treats and even got some stinky goodness. He saved $65 (which means he spent $45). We even got a new toy (but he clipped it cutting off the huge tag so Mom has to stitch it before we get to play with it).
Did I mention NINE bags of cat treats!?!

Tuxie Tabby Tuesday
We've had such nice weather that it's been difficult to get in the Christmas spirit. But Mom and Dad managed to put the trees up anyway (with our help).

But this is what the weather has been like -- windows open and cats on patrol.

We've taken to just staring out the window to make Mom and Dad wonder what's out back. We've studied the leaves and squirrels and invading neighbor cats. But usually, just for fun, there's nothing out there at all. It keeps Mom and Dad on their toes.
