Small box, no problem...

Dad ordered new blades for his razor from Harry's (he really likes them ...) and they came in a little rectangular box. It was a tiny box, but Maggie didn't care.

Small box, no problem...
She was determined to get in the box. She tried for a minute before Mom just opened the box flat and let Maggie sit on it. That still counts, right?

Good box

Mom has been uploading tons of pictures to our Flickr account to clear up space on her phone so she can take more pictures (surely of us, and not of those twins who come to visit). I like Flickr, but I noticed I think I have too many pictures in our Kittens folder because it's hard to sometimes find the new ones.*

Untitled
Here I am in a picture that Mom too of me in September. I'm pretty sure this is the same box that is in the bedroom. I have declared the box in the bedroom as "mine" and I will run and hop into it whenever another cat comes in to make sure no one else puts their stink on it (I'm talking to you, Maggie). Recently I heard Mom say something about how it will be a sad day when we have to get rid of my box. I'm not sure what she's talking about because that box isn't going anywhere.

*We noticed when Flickr did their upgrade to their site some of the folders of pictures seem disorganized. When you would think there would be some chronological order or some way to sort them other than manually reorganizing hundreds of pictures. Of course the photostream is still in chronological order, but it's challenging to wade through all those pictures. Time to rethink my folders.

Enjoying some box time

We've had a lot of good boxes in the house lately and we've been taking full advantage of it!

Jasper approves of Jeni's new bike shoes
Mom got new biking shoes that clip onto her pedals. I got a cool box to lean on.

Jasper taking the box for a test ride
We've been getting all kinds of shipments of costume pieces for the upcoming play at the theatre. Since Mom used Amazon, they come to the house. I like this box a lot!

Josie hiding in the box
Josie really likes it, too.

Jasper in his new favorite box
Sometimes, if you are very quiet, Huggy Bear won't see you in the box.

Jasper fits in the box, right?
It took some work, but I managed to get into this box too.

Jasper in the shoebox
There were lots of shoes bought, too, since Dad's sister got married this past weekend. When the fit is tight, it's about doing it with style.

Perfect fit
See, almost all my floof is in!

An old box picture

I was looking through my pictures on Flickr looking for one of me standing on top of a door. I know there has to be one out there, but it's not in my Flickr set. But I did find this old picture of me in a box from December 2010, and I liked it so much I decided to repost it.

Jasper in the box
I think I need to go find another box.

Simon's Cat and boxes

Did you see the latest Simon's Cat Box Guide? I really enjoy Simon's Cat!

And is there any way to get this setup without having to go through the ear drops?

That is one dedicated cat dad!

Josie and the big box

Josie was very excited about the big box in the house.

Josie and the big box
It was a box inside a box. How cool is that?

Josie investigating the big box
The box was so big that the flap rested against one of the chairs in the parlor.

Josie sitting on the flap
Look at Josie sitting in the flap. She really wanted to stay up there, but Dad was pretty sure it would go at any moment. Unfortunately, the box is now sitting by the road waiting to be recycled. I really wish we could have found a space for this box, but it really is almost its own room.

Giant box

We had a giant box delivered to the house the other day. Dad had ordered Mom a new light fixture for the upstairs hall from the Gilt website. It's a cool pendant lamp (30x12). (Here's a link to what it looks like, but don't look at the price because Dad did not pay that at all.) Dad is going to hang it where the light fixture is over the stairs right now. It will look really nice there, although that now means that Dad will have to change the other light fixtures to something more modern. (Can you say IKEA trip?) Personally, I think Mom is trying to kill Dad, since this project will combine a ladder, stairs and electricity.

The shade is big and fragile for shipping, so it came in a HUGE box, with a wooden frame inside the box, then another box inside the frame. We really wished the box could have stayed in the house. All four of us could have hung out in that box and not even touched each other (although I'm pretty sure Maggie would have pounced someone pretty quickly). Dad did get some pictures of Josie on the box that hopefully will get uploaded tonight. Mom and Dad have been back at the theatre at night helping with another show (it has nothing to do with cats, so I don't know why they keep going). If Dad survives, we'll also post pictures of the new light once it is up.

My favorite box

I know it's not Box Day anymore, but I had to show off my favorite box. This box ended up on the cedar chest in Mom and Dad's room and I just won't let them get rid of it. I scoot it around so it's right under the window.

Jasper sleeping on his box
Here I actually have my head under the window sill -- it was more comfortable than it might look. You know how we are, we'll sleep however and wherever.

Sometimes Maggie will bite me and steal some box time, but she knows it's just borrowed time. This is clearly my box. It's even broken down into my shape.

International Box Day

OH! I forgot today was International Box Day! Here's some box pictures for you. (And don't forget to scroll down and see Josie's belly! Two posts in one day ... wow!)

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right...

Square blue box

So Dad thought the picture of me getting in the box was funny, and I guess it was. But I actually did fit in the box. See:

Perfect fit
I think this is a perfect fit for me.

Jasper insisted that this box was just the right size
If it had a lid I could spring out like a Jasper in the Box.

Maggie in the box
Once I got out Maggie had to try it. It's now as snuggly for her as it is for me.

This box actually had a really cool gift from Aunt Cathy. It's the Cat Tao Glasses with cat pictures and saying on the glasses. I think all our beans need these glasses.

---

We got snowed in on Monday and Tuesday. We were expecting a lot of snow and ice by South Carolina standards and Mom and Dad both had work canceled on Monday and Tuesday so we got to hang out with them and snuggle a lot. There was a good three inches of snow and 1/4 inch of ice on the driveway. You'd think that Mom and Dad would have helped me visit my friend's blogs, but they had friends stay over for a "snowcation" and they sat around and watched a bunch of movies instead. But we did get to snuggle and got lots of treats for being good with company. I hope everyone is staying warm.

Boxing Day

Jasper in the box
I know sometime after Christmas is Boxing Day -- well, I observe boxing day almost any day I can. We've had company lately so all the boxes have been put up, but now that the holidays are wrapped up I think I'll insist that Mom and Dad pull a box back out for me.

I hope everyone had a very Happy New Year and that there weren't too many fireworks or anything. Ours was very nice, and we even got to socialize some with Mom and Dad's friends at the end of the night. Mom and Dad even had a brunch with friends on Sunday that we were invited to, although we didn't get any of the bacon. But we did get to have some open window time on Sunday, so that made up for no bacon.

Box, part 2 (and a funny story, continued)

Josie claimed the box first
The box from yesterday's Wordless Wednesday was officially claimed by Josie. She normally doesn't get in the mix with that stuff, but she made sure this one was her's. At least until company came and the box had to leave the kitchen and go up to the office. We don't like it as much in the office.

Remember a while back, I told a funny story about a friend's dog who likes to eat the mail as it is passed through the mail slot in the front door? Well, the dog, Mary Gertrude, just hates the mail slot. When that little flap gets flipped she just goes nuts. And recently, Mickey, our friend's 12-year-old cat, has gone through a bit of a mid-life crisis. After years of being a laid back, cool cat, now Mickey is slipping out through Mary Gertrude's doggie door, bringing in prizes for our friend Randy (including a live baby rabbit the other day, which Randy rescued). One day Randy was up on the roof fixing something and he looked over and there was Mickey. He's just turned into a rascal lately.

So the other evening, Randy is in the living room and Mary Gertrude hears the tink-tink of the mail flap and just goes nuts. Randy knows it's too late for the mailman and opens the door to see who is out there and there's Mickey, sitting at the front door. Mickey has learned that it gets the dog all kinds of crazy when he plays with the mail slot flap, and does it all the time now. I think we know who the smarter animal is in that house.

Thankful Thursday

Today, I am thankful for items that come in huge boxes! The entertainment center that Mom ordered (5-10 days shipping) finally arrived after about three weeks. It came in three really big boxes. And let me tell you, it lived up to its name -- it was very entertaining!

Maggie and Josie exploring the boxes
Josie and Maggie explored all three boxes, and put there stink on everything. But they weren't alone. HB and I helped too, but the picture isn't uploaded yet. Hopefully tomorrow!

Tuxie Tuesday

Josie on her new box
Josie really loved the new big box Mom and Dad brought into the house last week. Unfortunately, the box is gone already. It did last a few days, though, and was a great napping spot.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Fourth of July everyone! I hope everyone has a safe Fourth and there aren't too many fireworks where you are.

Jasper and Maggie explore a new box
I'll be hanging out with a good box today. Aunt Tiff ordered some new nurse clothes (they call them scrubs, but she's not scrubbing anything...) and she also ordered us a box. Here I am testing out the box to see if it fits.

"Is there room for both of us?"
Maggie wanted to see if both of us would fit. But I decided to share and leave it for her.

Maggie claims the box
It's a good box, because it fits a big cat like me, and a little cat like Maggie!

Now I think I'm going to sit on Dad's hand while he tries to use the mouse. It's my new favorite game.

Finally Friday

Ah yes ... finally Friday! I think we'll be doing a lot of napping today ...

...yeah, you just can't beat a good box for a nap.

Boys in the box

Dad left a box in the kitchen, which means that, within minutes, we had claimed it as our own. We have taken turns in the box as the rules require, although there are only pictures of Huggy Bear and me in the box.

Huggy Bear in the box
Huggy Bear enjoys lounging against the side of the box, and partway out of the box.

Jasper in the box
I, on the other hand, curl up mostly inside of the box. I think Huggy Bear left the pink ball in here. It is his favorite toy, afterall.

Thankful Thursday

Thanks for everyone visiting and commenting. I know I haven't been visiting as much lately. Dad has been busy at work, which is a good thing, and Mom is super crazy busy producing a play that opens in about a week.

Huggy Bear hiding in the packing paper
Here's Huggy Bear in hiding/pounce mode. He's in packing paper that the lamp from Tuesday's box picture was in. (But, like Scooby, Shaggy and Scout said, it does look like sheets.) Whippy Curly Tails wanted pictures of how to hide from the boogeyman, like Little Bunny does, and this is the best we could do.

You can see how much paper was really in the box in this next picture.

Jasper guards the box
We all took turns on the box. We had to lay it on its side once Josie got inside and couldn't get back out. But if you look closely, you can see Huggy Bear's tail sticking out of the paper, so he probably needs to work on his hiding from the boogeyman skills a little.
