Tabby Tuesday

We had a perfect box by the window in Mom and Dad's room. Sure, it was getting pretty ratty and broken down. But that's when they are the best. But Mom decided we needed a cat bed there instead.


Maggie was the early adopter of the cat bed. I would tip toe around it at first. It did take the spot of my favorite box, after all. But I did take a nap in it this weekend and it's really not all bad. Mom is having issues with it now, because Maggie is choosing to sleep in the cat bed at night instead of curled up with Mom.

Maggie decided to show off last night and got up on the new dresser and started posing for Mom and Dad.

This was Mom's favorite, with her paws tucked under and her tail wrapped around her feet.

Tabby Tuesday

We've had such wonderful weather here lately, it's meant extra open window time.


Maggie loves having the windows open. She'll snoopervise everything going on, and there's been a lot going on. Our neighbor does heating and air work, and Mom asked him to come and look at our units to make sure they were OK before the cooler weather came. He was in and out of the house, and even in the attic (Josie looked up the steps to the hatch, but didn't want to climb them). It's a good thing he came, too, because he found mold (yuck!) but was able to get it all cleaned up.

Speaking of cleaning up, on Thursday and Friday, Mom and Dad were in serious clean-up mode. Mom's brother and father came last weekend for the Alabama-South Carolina football game, but Mom's brother is allergic to cats so she had to get all our furs up (and there was a lot of fur!). We had a nice visit, even if his Alabama team lost. We got to put our stink on them when they weren't paying attention, and that's fun too.

You could tell Mom's brother isn't a cat guy because he saw Maggie in the sink and asked, "What's the cat doing in the sink?" Well, duh, why wouldn't a cat be in the sink? It's the best spot in the whole house!

Tabby Tuesday

The other day Mom was playing Bejeweled Blitz. Usually when Mom is focused on a game Maggie will walk across the laptop. But not this day. Instead she decided to curl up against Mom and give her some good karma instead. I think Mom got a high score. (It should be noted that Maggie is also laying on the grocery list...)

Tuxie Tabby Tuesday

This is truly a two-fer today ... and possibly the only time you'll ever see this: Maggie and Josie curled up together napping. Usually when Maggie joins Josie there is some butt-biting and hissing and Josie huffs off and Maggie claims Josie's spot. But not this day. No, instead Maggie curled up right with Josie, and even took the same pose as her. Maybe 2010 will turn over a new leaf for the sisters.

Tuxie Tabby Tuesday

We've had such nice weather that it's been difficult to get in the Christmas spirit. But Mom and Dad managed to put the trees up anyway (with our help).


But this is what the weather has been like -- windows open and cats on patrol.


We've taken to just staring out the window to make Mom and Dad wonder what's out back. We've studied the leaves and squirrels and invading neighbor cats. But usually, just for fun, there's nothing out there at all. It keeps Mom and Dad on their toes.

Tabby Tuesday

Mom wasn't feeling too hot the other day and ended up at Walgreen's getting some cough drops and she also picked up a new toy for us.


Maggie was quick to claim it. She liked the tail, and was whapping it before Dad could even get it free from all its packaging.


As you can see, Maggie loves it bunches. But she was nice enough to share it with Huggy Bear. When he got his turn, he carried it from one side of the room to the next, with Maggie following him.

Mr. Tigger was on my mind today. I hope he comes home in time for Thanksgiving. That would definitely be something to be thankful for.

Tabby Tattle Tale (and Takeover) Tuesday

Hi! Maggie here! I've hijacked the blog to tattle on my big brother, because you know he won't tell on himself. You know how Sweet Praline got grounded for stepping outside the other night when her Mom was on the porch and the door was cracked? And you know how Samantha and Mr. Tigger went outside and are driving their Mom crazy with worry? Well, a certain big orange cat tried the same thing the other night. On Sunday we had company for dinner and when Aunt Tiff was leaving Mom was standing at the door saying goodbye and Jasper put his front two paws right over the edge of the door like he thought he was going with Aunt Tiff or something. Mom scooped him up right away and asked him if he'd lost his mind. (I think he had.) It must be this big Harvest Moon. I'm glad Jasper didn't slip out. And I sure hope Samantha and Mr. Tigger come home soon.


OK, I'm done tattling on Jasper. I guess I'll give the blog back to him tomorrow. At least until he gets crazy again and needs to be tattled on.

Maggie is a firm believer in inspecting all the clean laundry, especially the towels. It's her secret way of putting her stink on Mom and Dad -- cover the towels in your stink and then they put it on themselves when they dry off. Which does make me wonder, if you're just going to dry off, why get wet in the first place?

Sometimes you have to be on patrol, and sometimes you just need to take a minute and enjoy a nice summer's day. Maggie is good at doing both. We've had some visitors recently ... birds flying past the windows, neighbor cats perching on our deck ... so it's good to be near the windows. You just never know what you'll see next.

Tabby Tuxie Tuesday

How about a two-fer on Tuesday (Two's-day?) ... It's been so stinkin' hot here that there's little to do other than just nap. OK, the heat is just another excuse to nap, but it's still hot. The heat index was 111 yesterday. I'm not sure what that means, but Dad said it meant it was way to hot for even a minute of garage time.


You know it's too hot when the sisters are just hanging out together, not wrestling or chasing or even hissing. They really do love each other ... Josie just usually expresses it with hisses and Maggie with bites on the butt.

Tabby Tuesday

We have a really bad habit of trying to use the very top step of the stairs as a scratcher. We love to lay on our side and just scratch scratch scratch. Mom and Dad have tried all sorts of things ... putting a scratcher at the top of the stairs, spraying us with water, fussing at us ... but none have worked.


The other day at Target, they picked up this scratcher pad to cover the step. We love it ... it gives us our step without us destroying the carpet. A win-win.

Mom and Dad took off for an extended weekend and got back late Monday night. Now that they're back, we're counting on a good amount of this...

A tale of two tails on Tabby Tuesday

The other day I was hanging out on the bed with Mom when Maggie decided to jump up and cuddle up against me. I was in a very good mood so I let her get right up beside me. Then, to Mom's joy and amazement, we intertwined our tails.

This is why Mom and Dad always have a camera ready. There's just no telling when we'll be this cute and sweet together again.

And a quick Mom update: She's just sore with a raspberry on her elbow. She has full range of motion in her arm now that the swelling is going down. It seems she had a nice stinger to the elbow with a good bit of bruising. Thanks for all the good thoughts. With a beach trip this weekend, Mom said if her elbow had been broken she would have officially declared a do-over on this summer, or an early start to fall (no pun intended).

Tabby Toesie Tuesday

I'd been hanging on to this picture of Maggie for today, because she's just too cute on top of the fridge, and I though this was a perfect Tabby Toesie Tuesday picture.


But then she went and curled up beside the dish towels that Dad had just olded. He decided to leave them there for her because she was so cute with her nose tucked between her toes, and I can't blame him. She was so cute that Dad was forced to sit with her and watch a movie until she got up.

Mom and Dad had visitors this weekend, and Mom got her birthday presents early. That meant that Maggie got her first gift early, too -- a gift bag to play in!


Maggie spent the better part of Sunday hanging out in or on this bag. Bags make great gifts, but Maggie's getting something even better for tomorrow's post.

Also, Dad found a neat cat t-shirt today.

Tabby Toesie Tuesday

I know ... Maggie, Maggie, Maggie. I hope you like pictures of Maggie because she's been posing like crazy lately. We were banned from the garage briefly last week after a flea incident. (Ugh! I hate fleas!) We've since been treated and are getting brief, supervised garage visits. Before the ban, Maggie did some serious hanging out in the garage, and that's where this Tabby Toesie picture came from.

Mom loves our toes, but I think she loves Maggie's the most. I have the best toehawk, but Maggie has one creamsicle paw that is orange where her other paws are dark. So because of that, Mom ends up taking a lot of Maggie toe pictures.


These are not her creamsicle paws, but they are some great toesies.
