This is how we plan on spending our Sunday -- except hopefully the bed's not made because it's even more comfortable when you can snuggle into the unmade sheets. It's supposed to be rainy, which makes for great napping!

Easy Like Super Sunday
Mom and Dad had friends over for the Super Bowl, and these are responsible pet people so we were able to visit and hang out. Mom made a bunch of great snacks, but we were on our best behavior and didn't try to eat any of them (although the bacon cheeseburger sliders were tempting). I hope the right team won for you. I was just watching for the commercials, but only made it to halftime. The halftime show was so bad that I decided to go upstairs to the closet and sleep in a box instead.

We're hoping to continue the relaxing weekend with a relaxing Sunday. We got to enjoy some much-needed Mom and Dad time Saturday. We were even treated to some stinky goodness and Josie was super good and got some shrimp. We usually just stalk the shrimp from afar, and then when we get a chance to eat some we realize that we like the thought better than the actual snack. But Josie was all about the shrimp last night.
I hope everyone else has been having a good weekend too!

Mom's back up in O-HI-O visiting her Dad and making sure he's OK. Dad's been taking good care of us with Mom gone (except that he let our food run out over night last night, and we had to get on him about that this morning -- but he made up for it with treats).

Maggie was keeping an eye on things from the window, too. Dad was out working in the yard, trying to get the grass cut before the rains come.

Mom and Dad have been spending a few late nights out doing some things at the theatre while they have a show going on, which means they haven't been having as much quality time with us. So today the plan is to spend time with us! Right now, Dad's trying to play Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook (a one-minute timed game) so our new game is "stand in front of the monitor while Dad tries to play a one-minute timed game." So far, I think we're winning.

We were up late with Mom and Dad, and helping Aunt Tiff prepare for another three night shifts. She likes the night shift a lot, though.

Today looks like a good day to nap. Huggy Bear's napping by the bookshelves in the parlor. This room gets good sun and is becoming one of our favorite new hangouts.

We have company this weekend, so I've staked out my spot on the couch early...
Mom and Dad got up real early yesterday and beat the mad crowd at the botanical garden plant sale to get some really cool stuff. They got some elephant ears and some daylilies and a rose bush that is newly discovered in South Carolina (it's purple) ... but I'll make Mom get some pictures of what she picked out because I know Scooby, Shaggy and Scout's Mom wanted to see them.

This weekend was a perfect weekend for watching the backyard squirrel.

The guy was back on the deck again, and Josie, Maggie and Huggy Bear were all at full attention to watch his antics. We might be seeing a lot more squirrel action. Mom and Dad spotted a squirrel nest high in one of the neighbor's trees.

Looks like a good day to just snuggle in and rest.

I'll even tolerate my little sister coming right over and sitting almost right on top of me.

I mean, seriously, Maggie, could you get any closer? But it was sweet. I just thought she was going to sit on my head the way she was walking around to get her spot right.

I know ... I've been a bad friend, not visiting like I should. This whole schedule change with Mom and Dad both hunting now has really thrown me for a loop and I'm just out of my routine. I promise to be better. At least Mom and Dad were around to spend some time with us this weekend.

This has become Josie's cushion on the couch. Now, with it cooling down a little, there's a blanket there too, and usually that's where Josie can be found. She spent the whole Tennessee-Alabama game there trying to console Dad.

Bear and Maggie actually cuddled with Mom at the same time the other day.
And while there's no photographic evidence, Bear and I had a purr-off this Saturday morning in bed with Mom and Dad. I'm saying I won, and since I do all the writing on this blog then that must be right. Right?
Now I promise I'll do more visiting and commenting. Have a good rest-of-the-weekend! (Is it Sunday already?)

Wow, is it almost 5:00 p.m. already? At which point does this just become a Monday post? This was a very easy Sunday because today is my Dad's birthday so we all stayed up late last night enjoying the company of friends (and by we I mean Mom and Dad, because we meaning the cats were cautiously observing things from a distance and avoiding four-year-old Gracie and 18-month-old Clara Ann, who did a good job of giving us treats, but also chased us some). So we all slept in some, then napped during football. We were very happy because Aunt Tiff came in town, and she's one of our favorite visitors. We're going to go back to napping, I think, and pick this up tomorrow (I know, not even a picture). I have big plans for this coming week, though...

Easy Like Sunday
The Olympics are on, so we're doing a lot of event watching right now. But in between Olympics watching, we decided to hang out with Dad as he sat in the new chair and read a magazine.

Since we're not all too sure about how this new chair fits into our routine, we had to see it in action and see how we were supposed to be with Dad as he was in the chair. Huggy Bear, Josie and Maggie opted for triangulation, and I think it worked out well. I'm hanging out with Mom across the room.

It's Sunday ... that means it's Huggy Bear's time for a bath...
Did you read about the cat who saved her 97-year-old bean from a house fire? Dad has a patient whose cat did a similar thing. She had suffered a stroke and was in bed and her cat moved the curtains back so that her friend and the police could see her in the bedroom and know she needed help.
Also, this was a funny Lio comic from earlier in the week.

Hope everyone's been having a good weekend. Sure seems like Sunday came faster this weekend. Mom is very excited because she got some Target gift cards and was able to get the end table for the parlor/reading room that she's been wanting. That means that the el cheapo table that has been acting as the stand-in end table could go somewhere else, and that made Mom even happier.

Just like any project, supervision is required. Huggy Bear was first on the scene when Mom and Dad started moving tables around. He perched on the back of the couch. Josie had to sniff the table. Maggie snuck (sneaked?) in from behind the couch, attacked Huggy Bear, then ducked back behind the couch.

After everything was back in place, the girls lost interest, but Huggy Bear liked his perch and decided to hang out. We tend to forget about these couches and how comfortable they are until Mom or Dad come in here and we find them again.

Well, the moratorium on garage time lasted a whole two days before Maggie and Josie were able to break Dad. I guess sitting by the garage door with their "please, please, PLEASE" expression just made him give in.

When we get garage time, the first thing we do is go to the light. One each side of the garage door is a tiny gap, I can only imagine is for ventilation and to allow water to get out if there is a spill, but for us it is the access point where the creatures we hunt come from. So naturally that is our very first stop.

Then it's a matter of finding a cool spot on the cement, stretching out, and just enjoy being in the garage.
No bugs this trip, but it was supervised by Dad. Maybe next time.

We're so happy to have Mom and Dad back home. After a little pouting (for the extra attention) we started pouring on the love again.

Mom needed some rest, and we knew she couldn't rest very well without us, so Huggy Bear and I snuggled up with her.

We put our paws on her hand to make sure she didn't go anywhere again.

There's just no beating a nap with Mom.
