PhotoHunt: Warm

Huggy Bear is demonstrating our PhotoHunt theme of warm today.


Huggy was enjoy the warm sunny afternoon on the back of the couch, bathed in a ray of sunshine. Although it was cool outside, it was warm right there.

PhotoHunt: Furry

Today's PhotoHunt was made just for us, I think. The theme is FURRY. I could just link to our Flickr set of all us McKitten-Cats, but I should pick one...


I was all stretched out with Mom and Dad the other day and Dad was petting my chest and all my furs got pushed up around my neck and face. Admittedly, I do have a lot of furs to begin with.

PhotoHunt: Hats

The PhotoHunt theme of Hats is a little bit of a challenge for us. Unlike the talented Daisy, we won't wear hats. Mom and Dad have some hats, but they don't wear them either. When Dad tries to wear his Tennessee hat, Mom usually tells him he looks like Bill Dance, and Dad's no bassmaster, so he doesn't wear the hat. (Let's face it, some people can wear hats, some can't). But we wanted to show some hats, anyway.


Maggie was willing to model with the hats. These hats are from the schools Mom and Dad went to: the University of Tennessee and Palmer College of Chiropractic. The Palmer hat is really the only one that has seen some good wear and tear. Dad wore this one when he went to Nepal (2001), and then when he and Mom went to Fiji (2003) -- they were doing some mission work providing free chiropractic care with a group from Palmer.


Mom and Dad tried to get Maggie to pose with Mom's Tennessee hat on her head, but Maggie decided it would be more fun to try to bite the hat instead. I can't blame her. (Tennessee is actually playing Praline's Gamecocks in basketball today, which isn't as big a deal as if they were playing football, but for Praline's sake: Go Vols! hehehe)

PhotoHunt: Aftermath

The PhotoHunters theme is Aftermath, and we've had two aftermath lately.


First, the aftermath of opening all of Aunt Tiff's presents, I took my place in the brown paper bag that she brought the gifts in (the best present of all).


Then, the aftermath of all of Maggie's garage debacle ... and she still wants out there. There's no breaking her desire to be in the garage.

No Christmas decoration aftermath pictures, but we did help with the breaking down of the tree.

Next week's theme is Hat, which will be a tough one for us. I'll be sure to see what cute picture Daisy comes up with, though. But then January 31 is furry ... talk about an easy one for us.

PhotoHunt: Hope

This year kicks off with a great PhotoHunt theme: Hope. I thought about trying for a "hope springs eternal" kind of picture, but decided to go with some humor instead:


Huggy Bear is hoping that Mom and Dad don't catch him with a paw full of my furs. It might be tough to see, but in his left paw, you see that light colored something sticking out of his paw -- that's MINE, yes, my furs. He better HOPE he doesn't get caught, or get put in time out by Mom for playing too rough.

Oh, sure, I do HOPE everyone has an amazing 2009 ... I just don't have a picture to say it with.

PhotoHunt: Breakfast

Today's PhotoHunt theme is Breakfast, and this theme is just too perfect to let pass, because breakfast is one of our favorite meals. I searched and can't believe I couldn't find a picture of Maggie stalking Dad's cereal bowl. I did find one of Huggy Bear and I surrounding Dad as he ate some cereal, but it just wasn't a good picture. (It lacked "sticky person" cuteness...)

So I went into the vault and pulled some of my favorite breakfast snack pictures. This is from a while back, when Gracie visited and spent the night. Gracie is probably our favorite sticky person (because her little sister hasn't learned how to feed us yet).


Here's gracie giving Huggy Bear a treat. Look at her concentration.


And then Gracie's showing Maggie how to open her mouth to get her treat. Although Gracie makes us work for it, the Temptations are worth it in the end.

PhotoHunt: Metal

Today's PhotoHunt theme is metal, and I don't really need to even hunt that hard for it, because Dad took a picture of Huggy Bear and Maggie just the other day, and Maggie is drinking out of our METAL water bowl.


Maggie is a bit of a Huggy Bear shadow, and he was drinking out of the bowl, so that meant that Maggie needed to drink out of the bowl, too. We had to get this bowl (which looks like a dog bowl, but Mom and Dad said it's a cat bowl) because we kept knocking over the other bowl we had in the kitchen, which was a fun game for us, but apparently not a fun game for Mom and Dad.

PhotoHunt: Reflection

We've been absent from the PhotoHunt for the past few weeks, and 2008 is running low on Saturdays, so I wanted to make sure that we got a few more up. This week's theme is Reflection. I "reflected" way back to March 2005 to this picture of Josie.


She's between the vertical blinds and the sliding glass door in our old apartment. We used to love to play in those blinds.

PhotoHunt: Together

The PhotoHunt theme for today is together. Funny, when I hunted for pictures of us together, the constant seemed to be Maggie, who likes to be with us. But the one she likes the most is obviously Huggy Bear. They're buddies, no doubt.


Here they are napping together in the office while Mom was working on the computer.

PhotoHunt: Family

I'm missed the past couple of PhotoHunters, but I hope to be back on track. And this is a good one to start back on: Family. I have tons of pictures that could demonstrate family, but I like this recent one with me and Huggy Bear.


Huggy Bear and I aren't from the same mother the way HB, Josie and Maggie are, but he's definitely my family. He's also the one I most likely will share the bed with. Mom's just off to the right (and she's family, too). You can also see how I ever so slightly have placed my paw on Huggy Bear to let him know I'm claiming him as my brother. Just a couple of Mancats hanging out with Mom.

Speaking of family, Mom and Dad are going up to the Smoky Mountains this weekend to visit Dad's family. Hopefully they don't run into a pack of vishus deer! Lucky for us it will be a quick trip, and Aunt Tishy will be popping in to check on us and give us treats.

PhotoHunt: View

Today's PhotoHunters theme is view. As it turns out, I had a perfect picture for this, and it's a picture of me, so I guess the Week of Jasper gets an encore today! I like to sit in the window of the office and look out over the back yard. I like the view of the back yard a lot.


From this view I can see the magnolia tree Mom and Dad planted. This was the first tree they added to the yard. Beneath the tree is an Isabel Bloom bird that stays out until it starts to get too cold. It's not a real bird, but I like to keep an eye on it, just in case.

PhotoHunt: Wild

Today's PhotoHunt theme is wild. Well, Huggy Bear had a wild adventure Friday afternoon -- his first stroller ride. He did very good in the stroller. Sure, he fussed a little bit, but I think everyone fusses a little bit on their first ride (I couldn't say since I haven't been out in the stroller yet). Mom and Dad were very proud of him. We're very proud of Mom and Dad for sticking to this walking thing (and taking us along).


Huggy Bear was a little nervous about his wild ride in the stroller at first. He was licking his lips nervously, like when Charlie Brown concentrates.


Huggy Bear asked Dad "Are we home yet?" toward the end of the ride. I think he enjoyed himself, but I think he liked coming back inside where it was air conditioned, too.


Despite being a little nervous, and being out with the wild outside smells and noises (barking dogs, chirping birds, cars...), Huggy Bear still managed to relax a little and enjoy his ride. Having the Kitty Kozy in there with him surely helped.

PhotoHunt: String

Today's PhotoHunt theme is string. We love strings. I love to chew them and chase them and eat them. But for the PhotoHunt, I chose this picture of Huggy Bear with our Squiggles because I really like this picture and we LOVE our Squiggles.


The challenge here is deciding which one to play with first!

PhotoHunt: Beautiful (and It's Football Time in ...)

...well, Dad wants me to jump up and down and finish the title with Tennessee, because, well, it is Football Time in Tennessee, but not really until Monday night when they play UCLA, and then not really IN Tennessee because they play in California, and then it's hard for me to know it's Football Time in Tennessee since we live in South Carolina, and it WAS football time in South Carolina Thursday night, for sure. I guess all I really know is we're going to have a lot more time to sit on the couch and get excited with Mom and Dad now that football season is here (and even better yet next weekend because we'll have the Vols and the Colts on TV!). Maggie's still trying to figure out what a touchdown is, and which team to cheer for. I've told her, it's the team that's the same color as me!

Now, on to our regularly scheduled Saturday post...

The PhotoHunters theme for today is an easy one for me, because the theme is Beautiful. They say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and I get to behold a lot of beauty because of my sisters. Mom said there were some "beautiful" pictures of me, too, but I insisted that since I am a Mancat that I am handsome, and not beautiful, and that those pictures will just have to wait for a "handsome" theme day (as of yet to be determined).

It was tough to pick just one "beautiful" picture of Josie and Maggie, so I went with pictures from yesterday.


Maggie can be a little stinker sometimes, chasing and wrestling and even, believe it or not, bullying, so I think that she's most beautiful when she's sleeping.


I really love this picture of Josie. Her eyes were really green yesterday.

Hope everyone's football teams win today, and that Gustav steers clear of you.

PhotoHunt: Wrinkled

Well, I've been negligent on the ol' Photo Hunting lately, what with Olympics and visitors and all kinds of other excitement and laziness going on. So in a (triumphant?) return to Photo Hunters, I return to a theme of Wrinkled? This is a theme that was just made for Dragonheart and Merlin, not because they are old but because they show off their super cool wrinkles so well, especially Merlin sporting the tan right now.

We're kind of floofy, so you don't see wrinkles on us (and even if the girls had wrinkles, it would be in bad taste to point them out). So in the absence of any wrinkles on us, I ended up really having to hunt. I could have shown the obvious, the wrinkled shirts of Dad's that I was sleeping on, and I would have had I not posted the pictures within the last week. But I did find this picture that I really like.


Josie and Maggie are playing with gold ball on the WRINKLED brown packaging paper. This paper came in a shipment that Mom got a while back (too long ago that she won't let us admit how long she's let us have a sheet of trash paper just lying around the house). You can see how we've wrinkled it up real good, lying on it, wrestling it, and just loving it in general. I hope Mom lets us keep this a little while longer, if only in the garage, because we love our wrinkled paper.

PhotoHunt: Cloud

Today's Photo Hunter's theme is Clouds. Mom and Dad have their head in the clouds today after going out and (almost spontaneously) buying a new car. When the mechanic tells you to "trade your car this weekend" you trade your car, and Mom and Dad did, and they're a little giddy about it. But this is photohunters, not Mom and Dad story hunters, so here's the photo...

Maggie has a favorite blanket, her "Orange B", which is soft as a cloud. Whenever Mom wants Maggie to hang out with her, she'll put the Orange B out, and Maggie will come and curl up, without a doubt.

PhotoHunt: Hanging

Today's PhotoHunters theme is Hanging. We have a lot of hanging around here ... a bird's nest in the hanging fern that Dad wouldn't take a picture of because he said he did enough trauma to the little bird when he "watered" the bird the other day on accident. Then Mom and Dad are hanging out at the mechanics this morning (ugh!) ... but enough about that ... let's talk about us!


The other day, we were hanging out, the three of us sharing the zebra tail wand toy.


But Maggie got mad at the toy and decided to wrestle it instead.

PhotoHunt: What IS that?

The PhotoHunters theme today is What IS that? Well, we are very inquisitive cats, and super big helpers, too, so it wasn't real hard to find a picture for today.


Maggie is looking in the bag to see what Mom and Dad were working on. Mom planned a baby shower for one of the ladies in Dad's office (who is probably having the baby right now...) and as a favor Mom wrapped up Blow Pops and Tootsie Pops with a note saying "Guess who's gonna pop?" So Maggie wanted to help with this project, and by help, I mean eat the ribbon. So the suckers ended up in the bag, which Maggie found very curious.


Here are the sucks from the shower where they were safe from the toothy death.

PhotoHunt: Support

The PhotoHunters theme today is "support" which I think is a great theme for us because all too often cats are accused of being loners and overly-independent. I think the Cat Blogosphere has clearly shown this to be wrong. And now I get to show it in a photo. Here I am supporting my littlest sister Maggie


She was a kitten in this picture and I wanted to make sure that she knew she was part of the family, and not a foster cat, so I would hang out with her and snuggle with her like a good supportive brother should.

And since we're hunting way back into kitten pictures, here's one of Mom and Dad's favorites of Josie and Huggy Bear as kittens.


Josie and Huggy Bear snuggles together a lot when they were babies. They snuggle less now, but they are still very supportive of each other.

PhotoHunt: Bright

"Bright" PhotoHunter's theme ... hmmm ... brings to mind Gremlins and three specific rules. It's a good thing we're not Gremlins, because we like to nap in the bright sun, (and stay up past midnight ... not too big on the water, though).

Lately, Josie has made her favorite spot the space beside the small couch where the sunlight comes in through the back door. Dad had to cut off a branch on the tree by the deck, and it has allowed more sunlight to come in, which makes Josie very happy.


She is nice, and will share her spot with Huggy Bear.


Huggy Bear usually naps in the opposite corner, more blending into the shadows. But he learned from his sister that the sunny spot can be nice too.


Josie was even kind enough to move aside and give Maggie a little time in the ray on sunshine. Maggie may need to work on her positioning, though.
