Birthday Stinky Goodness

I almost forgot to post my birthday Stinky Goodness pictures!

Maggie’s 15th birthday celebration
Dad made me a Stinky Goodness cake in the shape of a 15 for my fifteenth birthday! This has been our tradition for as long as I can remember. It was very tasty!

Maggie’s 15th birthday celebration
I was even nice and shared some with my brothers. They didn't even make me hiss!

Maggie’s 15th birthday celebration
Here's the "cake" before I started eating it.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I'm not as spry as the kittens are, but I still have my kitteny moments, and still climb on the back of the couch to watch the sassy squirrel on the deck. Now, back to my nap...

Happy Birthday Kittens!

Today is Aslan and Loki's FIRST BIRTHDAY! I can't believe those little stinkers are already one year old. They've been with us for nine months, and I'm slowly warming to them. Sure, there's still some hissing but there's also more hanging out. So that's good.

Aslan and Loki (and a little Maggie)
Here's Loki as a tiny kitten. These are screen shots from Dad's phone, but we left them uncropped for the date on the bottom.

Aslan and Loki (and a little Maggie)
And here's Aslan as a tiny kitten! It's hard to believe they were ever that small. Aslan is around 12 pounds now.

Aslan and Loki (and a little Maggie)
Here are the boys patiently waiting for Mom and Dad to finish the puzzle they were working on so the boys could get some treats.

Aslan and Loki (and a little Maggie)
You can see Aslan snoopervising the puzzle work. If he didn't try to help Mom and Dad would finish faster and he'd get those treats he wants.

Tonight for their birthday they are going to have some Stinky Goodness Birthday Cake and get all the love they want. I'll post some more pictures later tonight.

Happy birthday to me!

Today is my 14th birthday! It is hard to believe that it was 14 years ago that I climbed out of the cage at the shelter and onto my Mom's shoulder. I picked her first, and Mom and Dad took me home. My plan for my birthday is to curl  up  in my favorite box and sleep. I know, it's not the most exciting way to spend my birthday, but it sounds pretty perfect to me. I'll probably have some wet food and some treats too. But mostly just nap.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Today is my 13th birthday! 13! Wow! Where has the time gone? I know a lot of people get stressed today because it is the deadline for filing your taxes, but don't think of it as Tax Day, think of it as Jasper's Birthday (with some paperwork) because birthdays are fun and exciting and an excuse to eat cake (or Stinky Goodness).

Untitled
If I have any say about it, this is how I will spend my entire day -- laying on Dad's pillow snuggling with Mom. I can't think of much better than that.

Enjoy some Stinky Goodness today. I'll be having a Stinky Goodness cake tonight and will post some pictures.

Belated Stinky Goodness Cat

Well, it took them long enough, but Maggie finally got her Stinky Goodness Birthday Cake!

Maggie finally got her stinky goodness birthday cake.
Maggie turned nine back on June 17, but it was almost exactly a month later before she got her cake. Maggie got her taste first, but then she shared with the rest of us. We don't do a lot of wet food, so we usually just have a few licks, then come back later for a nibble. But either way, it was good.

Also, our wall climbing shelves arrived the other day. We still need to order brackets and figure out where they need to go, but at least the shelves are here, and that is very exciting!

Better late than never cake

Well my traditional stinky goodness cake came a little late this year, but we got to enjoy some the other night.

Jasper's 12th stinky goodness birthday cake.

Here I am getting the first bite of my cake. It is in the shape of a 12.

Maggie, Josie and HB enjoying some of Jasper's cake
But I also shared. Huggy Bear wasn't very interested in the stinky goodness that night for some reason, but that's OK -- more for the rest of us.

This is a better picture of the cake. Dad forced me to wait so he could take a picture. I was not being very patient.

Happy birthday to me!

Today is my 12th birthday! I can't believe it was 12 years ago today that Mom and Dad brought me home from the no kill shelter in Illinois (they lived across the river in Iowa at the time). I have had some great adventures and made some great friends in the past 12 years, and I am happy to have been able to share most of them with you. I'm hoping for some good stinky goodness cake tonight.

I know most people think of today as Tax Day, but I like to think of it more as Jasper Day -- it's a lot more fun that way, don't you think?

11th birthday stinky goodness cake

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! It makes my day so special and enjoyable. I am so blessed to have such great friends in my life.

-----

It was a few days late, but we finally got to enjoy my stinky goodness cake!

Jasper's stinky goodness cake
The cake was very yummy, and, as usual, in the shape of the birthday. The 11 was easy for Dad to make. I was pretty quick to help myself t the cake, so the 11 got messed up pretty quickly.

Jasper's stinky goodness cake
I was enjoying the stinky goodness so much that Dad didn't even make me share. He opened a second can of food for the others.

Huggy Bear and Maggie enjoying some stinky goodness
Huggy Bear and Maggie are nice enough to eat next to each other.

Josie enjoying some stinky goodness
Josie wasn't too far away, but it's best to give her a little space so she can enjoy the food without Maggie stressing her out.

The betrayal of the treats

It happened again this weekend -- we were betrayed by the treats. You'd think we would learn, but those treats are just too good. Mom and Dad had a surprise party for Aunt Tiff's 40th birthday, but of course that means we get sequestered into the big bathroom. But that's also where we usually get our treats, so it's pretty easy for Dad to lure us in. Josie has actually learned to stop just short of the bathroom for her treats. Huggy Bear has learned to recognize the level of simultaneous cooking and cleaning as a sign for him to hide under the bed to avoid getting locked in the bathroom. He's very funny about it, because Dad will try to lure him out from under the bed with treats. But he'll just reach out one long arm like Hungry Hungry Hippos and pull the treat under the bed and eat it. This weekend Dad even wrapped Tiff's gift right by the bed thinking Huggy Bear would come out and help. Eventually Dad gave up and just locked HB in the bedroom. (Mom later came up and he was up on the bed, and she put him in with the rest of us, so he had food, water and litter box.)

But Aunt Tiff was very surprised by her party, which makes getting locked up OK, I guess. Tiff wanted a nice, low-key dinner with a couple of friends, so Mom threw her a big party instead. You only turn 40 once, and they've been friends for 35 years, so it had to be done.

Once the party was winding down we did get to visit and get some love and attention and wished Aunt Tiff a proper happy birthday with purrs.

---

In other news, Dad has almost reached his fundraising goal for their big MS 3-day, 50-mile walk. Mom still needs some help. If you have a few dollars to help her out, every bit is appreciated. You can donate here. Thanks again for all your support.

Happy birthday Josie and Huggy Bear!

Happy birthday to my wonderful sister and brother Josie and Huggy Bear! I can't believe they are eight years old! My how time flies (so fast, that I missed posting this on their actual birthday on Saturday ... oops.)

The Trio
Here we are back in the day, when Josie and Huggy Bear were still tiny and recently came to live with us. You can see how happy I am to have a new brother and sister. My life has gotten so much better because of having them around.

Hair band wrestling!!
They were very cute and playful kittens. Josie and Huggy Bear were two of four kittens that Mom and Dad brought in to foster and find homes for when we lived on our apartment. Mom fell in love with Josie the minute she saw her. (Yes, we loved Huggy Bear too, but there was something about Josie that reminded Mom of Fluffy who came before us.)

Look how little he was...
It's hard to imagine Huggy Bear being this tiny, since he grew into such a big mancat, but he was originally my little buddy. He's still the friendliest, lovingest cat in the house. And he still purrs the instant he enters the room that Mom and Dad are in.

This weekend was very busy with the show at Mom's theatre starting, and Dad going to see Neil Gaiman speak and hosting two of the other participants in the event. To top it off, our fridge went on the fritz. Fortunately we have an extra refrigerator in the garage that is now stuffed. So we'll be getting birthday cake later this week when live gets back on track.

Thanks to the Cat Blogosphere for always being there and remembering our birthdays, even when we get behind and (almost) forget. As always, you are the best bunch of cats out there!

Two very happy birthdays

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! You are all too kind. Maggie and Mom both had very nice birthday celebrations. We'll be posting pictures of Maggie's birthday cake soon. On Friday night Mom had a disco party so we were sent to the master bathroom. Dad meant well and bought us some turducken flavored wet food as a treat. Well, the juice was good, but the turducken was not so much. As a new rule, Dad -- no food that's not really found in nature, OK?

On Sunday, Josie brought Mom a birthday present. Josie had been out in the garage and caught a lizard (really, a salamander or skink) and brought it into the living room for Mom. Josie set it down, then chased it again. Josie was having so much fun, too. But then Mom realized what she had. Dad just said, "Josie! Come on," and walked with Josie back to the garage, Josie with the lizard in her mouth. Dad tried to get the lizard from her, and it took him a while before she would drop it. Dad evicted us all from the garage, then went to find the lizard, but he was gone. Later, Dad found him outside, but he didn't make it. Poor lizard, but they should all have learned by now, really. The worst part, I don't think Mom really was excited about the gift. (OK, she was excited, but not how Josie thought she would be.)

Happy 7th Birthday Maggie!

I really can't believe it is Maggie's seventh birthday! Time goes by so fast. I still remember when Mom and Dad were nursing her back to health.

Maggie is the third from the right. She was one of a litter of 10 (or maybe nine, with a tenth joining from another litter). They all had nicknames so Mom and Dad could keep up with who had gotten their baths and meds. Momma cat tried to care for them, but it was too much, and most got some sort of upper respiratory infection. So Mom and Dad were up early each day de-fleaing and medicating them. They were all good kittens, but Maggie was the sickest of the litter and got spoiled by Mom in the process of getting well.

Well, seven years later she's still being spoiled by Mom and Dad. She really likes to try to boss us around. Every now and then we have to tussle just to make sure she knows who's boss. (OK, I have bad tussling technique, so a lot of time she wins. But it's not fair, because she bites my butt...)

Maggie being cute and snuggly
Here's Maggie the other day, snuggling with Mom and Dad while watching The Big C.

I never imaged that I'd have three other siblings, but I now I imagine not having them. Happy Birthday little sister!

(Oh, and Maggie shares her birthday with Mom, so Happy Birthday to Mom too!)

Happy Birthday to me!

Today is my 10th birthday! Yes, the BIG ONE-OH! I can't believe I've been around that long ... I'm such a mancat to still behave like such a kitten so often! I've come a long way since I was born in that kind no-kill shelter in Moline, Illinois. I was such a tiny kitten with such huge paws -- Mom and Dad just knew I'd grow into a big mancat, and I sure have.

jasper in a bowl
Here I am as a kitten ... This was from my Gotcha Day. You see that phone charger plugged into the wall behind me, yeah, I wasted no time chewing through that on day one. I still like to chew cords to this day.

oops
And here's another Gotcha Day picture. Yes, this is my birthday, but these are the earliest pictures Mom and Dad have of me. As you can see, Maggie's not the only one good at unrolling toilet paper!

jump
Oh! An action shot! I loved that mouse so much ... I know it's still around here somewhere. This was my first mouse I ever had!

cat and mouse
You can see the mouse better in this shot. Maybe I'll have to break that out and play with it for old time's sake.

And of course there will be Stinky Goodness cake later tonight. I can't wait!

Happy Birthday Josie and Huggy Bear!

Happy Birthday to Josie and Huggy Bear! I really can't believe my brother and sister are seven years old! Time goes by so fast. I feel like I was older when they came to live with me, but I was only two. That seems so little now. I have been blessed to have such good siblings, who are nice and fun to play with, and supportive. We hardly bicker at all (although we like to give Josie a hard time).

Kitten Josie eating Mom's "bad kitty" slipper
Josie was so tiny when she came to live with us. She's hardly bigger than Mom's slipper here.

Look how little he was...
It's hard to remember Huggy Bear being this little (or his tummy not dragging...)

I love my brother
Huggy and Josie used to snuggle when they were little. They don't snuggle that much anymore, but weren't they sweet?

Yin and yang
This is more of their "laying together" technique now.

Josie and Huggy napping
This is probably how they'll spend most of their birthday ... enjoying a sunny spot. But hopefully we'll get open windows tonight.

And you know there's going to be stinky goodness cake! We'll get those pictures up soon.

Happy Birthday Josie and Huggy Bear. I look forward to the next seven years!

Happy 6th Birthday Maggie!

Happy Birthday Maggie! I can't believe my little sister is six years old -- she still acts like a kitten! I can't wait for birthday cake tonight. Today is also Mom's birthday -- Maggie gets to share it with her, but I don't think Mom wants a stinky goodness cake.

Here's Maggie with her HUGE litter of kittens. She's the third from the right.

My stinky goodness cake

IMG_9328
I got to enjoy my number 9 stinky goodness cake before by brother and sisters. Dad shaped the stinky goodness into the shape of a 9.

Jasper's 9th birthday cake
Maggie was quick to come up and try some of the cake too. Funny thing was, Maggie and Huggy Bear are usually the biggest pigs of us, but they didn't really care for this one. Josie and I liked it a lot, though.

Overall it was a good birthday. I could have taken some more Mom and Dad time, but there's really never enough Mom and Dad time. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. You all made me feel so loved and special.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is Dad's birthday! He wanted me to thank everyone for their birthday wishes. And we all want to thank you for the kind thoughts sent to Tucker's family.

This is the look I gave Dad when he said he had to go to work on his birthday. I mean, really, isn't that a holiday?!?

Happy 6th Birthday, HB and Josie

Today was Josie and Huggy Bear's 6th birthday! Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sorry we didn't have a birthday post up earlier, but here's some pictures from the birthday celebration...

Cat birthday cakes
Josie and Huggy Bear each had their own 6 birthday cake made out of stinky goodness.

Huggy Bear and Josie's birthday cakes
They both enjoyed the first bites of cake before Dad split it up for us.

Jasper finishing off some "birthday cake"
It was some good stuff. I was really digging it. I may be the biggest of the four of us, but I'm usually not the food hog. But tonight I was all over this stinky goodness. Too bad the next birthday isn't until April. (Unless you count Dad's, which is Tuesday, but I don't think he's having a stinky goodness cake.)

Happy 5th Birthday, Maggie!

Maggie's birthday was on Thursday. She got a bunch of nice Happy 5th Birthday wishes on Thursday. Maggie shares her birthday with Mom, which is really cool, but Mom wasn't feeling too hot on her birthday so we decided to actually have her party on Saturday.

Maggie checking out her 5 "cake"
Maggie got a stinky goodness cake in the shape of a 5.

Cats enjoying cat food birthday "cake"
She got the first bite, then we all shared.

Mom got a neat cooler from Aunt Tiff that looks like a fishing bobber, and the best part is that it came in a really great box. Dad tried to get a picture of Maggie in the box, but she decided to rush the camera instead.

Thanks again for all of Maggie's nice birthday wishes. Y'all are the best!

Happy Birthday to Mom!

Mom's birthday was yesterday. She was supposed to take a half day, but there were things that she had to get handled at work, so she was out all day, then went to dinner, and didn't get home late. So we kittens will be celebrating her birthday with her this weekend by sleeping on her and forcing her to sleep in late tomorrow. Now that sounds like a plan!
