Midnight Mancat Monday

We're still enjoying the awesome Fall weather here with some open windows. Mom and Dad are even sleeping with the windows open, even though it gets a little chilly for them in the middle of the night.

Huggy in the window with Maggie
Huggy Bear is quick to claim his spot in the window when it's open. But like a good mancat, he'll share it when he has to.

Midnight Mancat Monday

Fall is officially here. We know now for sure, because the windows are open.

Midnight Mancat Monday

Huggy Bear likes hanging out with Dad in the kitchen. He really likes to flop in the middle of the cool floor right where Dad's about to step.

Huggy Bear perched on the kitchen stool
This is a safer spot for Huggy Bear when Dad's in the kitchen. He's less likely to get stepped on when he's perched on the stool.

[HB has not been stepped on, just close -- Dad's learned to watch his step.]

Mancat Midnight Monday (on a Tuesday, because Huggy Bear insisted)

This would have been a Mancat Midnight Monday, except that it's Tuesday ... so I guess to a Twilight Tuesday? Uh, Huggy Bear is shaking his head, insisting it can still be a Mancat Midnight post, just on Tuesday. I asked if he wanted to wait until next Monday, but he really wants to show his pictures.

Huggy Bear had a really good photo day last week. Anyone who has tried to photograph their black cats knows what a challenge it can be. Huggy Bear makes it a little more challenging by moving a lot when Mom and Dad are trying to get his picture.

Huggy Bear closeup
Huggy was sitting near the window, relaxing in the warm, natural light. This helped so that the picture could actually show his face. Mom is always saying what a handsome Mancat he is, but usually the pictures don't show it.

Huggy Bear eyes
He is a very kind, playful little brother, but these pictures show his intensity, too, which you usually don't see. Of course, even at his most intense, he's still a half-second away from purring for Mom.

Midnight Mancat Monday

Sometimes one of the most important parts of being a Mancat is making sure Mom knows you love her. Huggy Bear is very good about that. He will turn his purr on real loud, just up in bed, and press himself against Mom real hard so she has to pet him (like she wouldn't anyway!?!).

HB getting love from Mom
Mom and Dad have spent a lot of busy, away-from-us time these past few weekends, but they promised to make up for it. You can see Mom is doing her part here, making amends with Huggy Bear.

Oh, and Happy Cinco de Mayo to all mis amigos del gato! (And apologies for my Spanglish...)

Midnight Mancat Monday

Huggy Bear's fur chair
Originally uploaded by jenianddean

In honor of Midnight Mancat Monday, I thought I would post a picture of Huggy Bear and his fur chair. This chair is the whole reason mom bought the Furminator. Huggy Bear is shedding everywhere, but especially on his chair. Mom isn't upset with about it or anything. The chair is in desperate need of being recovered and Huggy has really taken to the chair. I used to sleep in it all the time in our apartment because it was next to the sliding glass doors and I could watch the birdies and talk to Midnight (and any other kitties that decided to come by for a visit). But since we moved into house, I have found a ton of other place to nap!

Note from Mom: I had just vacuumed the chair a couple days before this picture. That's just how much Huggy is shedding. I don't remember him shedding like this last year. The funny thing is his coat looks and feels just as floofy like he hasn't lost any fur. Who knows!

Mr. Yellow eyes

The yellow paper really intensifies his beautiful yellow eyes.

Midnight Mancat Monday

Huggy Bear may look like he's in jail here, but this is actually one of his favorite spots in the hall at the top of the stairs. It really is a good place to sit. The stairs curl some, so I'll perch on the other part of the hall overlooking the rest of the steps. We figure it's a good mancat thing to do, to watch over the stairs...

Huggy Bear in jail
Mom and Dad and Aunt Tiff have been working hard re-doing our office, so we were away from the computer all weekend, but we were doing a lot of snoopervising while we were away. They have a few things left to finish the office, but we are very excited by the progress already.

Midnight Mancat Monday

Huggy hanging out with mom

I think Huggy Bear looks very mancaty in this picture. You can really see his "bear" face and the reason mom and dad named him Huggy Bear. Mom really likes taking black and white and sepia tone pictures of Huggy. She says he shows up better.

Happy Midnight Mancat Monday everyone...especially to all the House Panthers!!

Mancat and Midnight Monday

Today you get a double shot of McKitten-(Man)cats ...

Midnight Monday -- Huggy Bear

Corner nap
Huggy Bear was enjoying a corner nap on his Kitty Kozy on Saturday. He was very patient and sat real still for Dad to get a few pictures of him with natural light so you can see his face real good.

Mancat Monday -- Jasper

Supervising from the fridge
I surprised Mom the other day by claiming a spot on top of the fridge. This is not a normal perch for me, but once I got up there I did it up right. I supervised Mom in the kitchen to make sure dinner was just right (it was, of course) and really enjoyed being up high. High spots are always best...

Midnight Monday

Huggy Bear can be such a challenge to get good pictures of because he's such a house panther. But every now and then, when the lighting is just right and he's sitting just still enough we manage to get a good shot of him.

Here, HB is sitting in front of the fireplace screen. He likes to sit on the black marble against the black fireplace screen and disappear into a shadow where he can watch everything go on and not be seen.

Peek-a-boo

This is his second favorite spot, in the space between the garage door and the kitchen, waiting for treats or a piece of ice to chase and play with.
