I hope you had a relaxing and restful Memorial Day.

Mom and Dad were working in the kitchen last night getting ready for company today so of course we needed to snoopervise. Mom made two ice creams (Meyer lemon and peanut butter honey) but we didn't get to taste any of it. We weren't too interested in the potato salad or pasta salad. The big score will be today when they break out the hamburgers and brats. (They still owe me my yummy goodness birthday cake, too.)
I just heard the news and I'm just in shock, but Diva Kitty is gone. Sophia was one of a kind, the only cat I knew who didn't need a name, just initials, because everyone knew who DK was. And just on the heels of the passing of Ginger ... This makes two of my oldest cat friends in one week. I think I'm going to just curl up in my box for the rest of the weekend. Purr with your people, curl up next to them, let them love on you. Too much sadness right now.
One of our oldest and dearest friends left us today. Ginger was one of the very first cat friends we made when we started our blog 11 years ago, and the first human (her mom Rita) we connected with via Flickr, and later on Facebook. Our hearts break for Ginger's loving parents Rita and Fred, who had to make the hardest of all decisions, and her cat-sister Mariah who is now an only cat. We've had other friends come and go, but this is one of the hardest. Please keep Ginger and her family in your thoughts and purrs. Rest in peace sweetheart. We miss you already.
Thanks for all the purrs. I am feeling much better. I was just out of sorts the other night and had Mom very worried. But Dad got me some cat grass and that seemed to help.
I'm not feeling so hot tonight. I was a little dehydrated with some white spots on the edge of my nose. Mom and Dad tried to get me to eat some canned pumpkin because Mom read where that helps when cats are dehydrated or have upset tummies. So Dad put pumpkin around my mouth to get me lick it because I was dirty. I was a little constipated but finally used the bathroom. My breathing was quick, but now it has calmed back down. I seem to be doing a little better but I'd really appreciate some healing purrs just in case.
Mom had been sick for about a week now, dealing with sinus crud and no voice, unable to kick it. So we have been taking turns snuggling with her to help her heal. It is an important job. Here I am keeping her spot on the bed warm. (Moments after this picture Maggie pounced me and made me leave. She can be such a brat.)
Josie is starting the new year off right ... napping in a sunny spot in Dad's spot on the couch. We hope your new year is restful and warm.

Josie loves to be under the Christmas tree. Mom was trying to get a cute picture of her when Huggy Bear walked a little too close and Josie made sure he knew that this was HER spot under the tree.
We did a lot of snoopervising today while Mom and Dad decorated the house. We were really stressed when they were working on the front porch, but we really loved helping with the tree in the living room. We especially like to make sure the tree skirt is in the right spot and nice and warm. We were so tuckered out that we fell asleep while Mom and Dad finished putting the ornaments on the tree.
This is a much better picture of Maggie watching the fish. She makes sure that Dad never forgets to feed the goldfish in the morning. She sits on the chair right by the aquarium until Dad feeds George and Fin. (We need an algae eater.) They are clearly Maggie's fish.
Maggie just loves watching the fish. She was being so cute so Dad tried to get a picture off her. So of course she hopped down in mid picture...

What began as stories about me quickly became stories about we ... I'm Jasper (orange). I live with Josie (tuxedo), Huggy Bear (house panther) and Maggie (tabby).
