Watching TV with Mom and Dad

Every now and then Mom and Dad will break their routine and hang out in a different room. They got on a kick of watching Motive and were catching up on old episodes in the bonus room, which was great because that room has one of my favorite couches to hang out on.

Here I am on the back of the couch. I kind of blend in to this couch, so I can disappear and just chill out. It is a super comfortable old leather couch, and definitely one of my favorites. This room is also where the laundry is, so it's cool when I get to lay on sorted piles of clothes. (This is also probably why Mom and Dad don't use this room as much -- they feel they should be doing laundry if they are back there. But it has the best AC in the house, too.)

(Also, I can't believe it's been 11 days since my last post. I know I get out of the routine some, but I didn't mean for it to be this long...)

Forced feline fun...

Well, in the aftermath of what we are now calling the Great Flood of 2013 (aka, the pipe bursting upstairs and getting nine rooms wet), we were forced to spend some time in the bonus room over the garage. It was a safe dry space, away from workers and the fans and dehumidifiers, with the laundry and a place for the litter boxes, and a TV.

The result of being forced into one cold room
Strange things happened because of this, like Josie and Maggie sharing a blanket (although they were not touching).

Jasper hanging out with me
I really enjoyed some extra snuggles with Dad before Mom got back home.

Josie and Jasper
Mom and Dad tried their best to make it a comfortable and safe-feeling place for us. They brought in our favorite blankets to make it smell like us, and make it a place where we'd want to be. You can see the orange blanket that we all love to curl up on.

Maggie ang Huggy Bear
Huggy Bear and Maggie are best buds, so it was no surprise to find them hanging out together.

We are out among the normal space now. The fans are all gone, and most everything is set back where it goes. The contractor looked at everything and thinks he can knock it out in about a week -- baseboards, paint one wall (the one they had to cut to get to the pipe), drywall, repaint every ceiling downstairs. That week we'll be back in captivity -- at least during the day when work is being done.

Fortunately the carpets were saved. The bathroom floor -- not so much. But Mom thinks she wants tile in the bathroom now. They had to pull up the linoleum and left some staples in the floor (pokey side down). I managed to bruise my paw pad on one, jumping down from the counter, and limped around for a few days. This made Mom very sad, but I'm OK now -- just sneezing a little from all the dust that got blown around by the fans. It'll all be OK. It can just be a bit overwhelming.

Home, but not home

Mom and Dad were supposed to go out of town this weekend. They were heading up to Rocky Top Tennessee to see Dad's parents and an old college friend (and hopefully a football win). But the girl who is running the sound board for Mom's play is sick, which means Mom and Dad are staying home -- but have to run sound for the show. So we'll get some time with them, but have to share them with the theatre. But some is better than none.

Hanging with Mom and Dad

Sunday was so nice ... apparently Mom and Dad got an extra hour in their day. To us, it still seemed the same. But on the bright side, Mom and Dad didn't have to go to the theatre all day, which is the first time in what seems like weeks. The play Mom is producing is up and going, but they didn't have a show Sunday, so Mom and Dad relaxed, watched some tv and cleaned out their closet. And most importantly, they spent some quality time with us!

Zoey
This is our neighbor's visitor cat -- Zoey. I've been meaning to introduce you to her properly for a while now. Remember a while back she was putting her stink on when he would take the morning litter scoopings out? And she was playing with Maggie through the front window. Well this picture was taken a few weekends ago when the neighbor was over checking on the HVAC before the weather cooled down. Zoey tagged along and played in the mulch. Zoey's family has three indoor cats that Mom and Dad cat-sat a while back, but unfortunately Zoey is Feline Leukemia Positive so she has to stay outside. But she is very sweet, even if she puts her stink on Dad in the mornings. I guess we can let her visit.

Super Saturday

Today has been a most excellent day. It is the first time in a long long time that Mom and Dad have actually been able to spent the majority of the day home with us. We have been snuggling up with them and cleaning them and having sure our stinks are all over them. Sure, they've been cleaning some because there are some sticky people coming to spent the night tonight, but that's OK. Just as long as Mom and Dad are home.
