Mom and Dad have to go to Atlanta this weekend for a seminar for Dad. That meant that last night they planted the plants from the weekend before and cut the grass (finished in the dark, but it was the backyard).
I'm not looking at all this outside yard work as time away anymore. That's how I used to see it. Now I'm looking at it as an opportunity to snoopervise Mom and Dad. And I've been doing a lot of snoopervising, too. They make sure windows are open, and I'm there the entire time, making sure they do things right.
BTW, I want this...

In memory of Oreo
Oreo was one of the first cat blogging friends we made. Although he had stopped updating a while back, we would check in ever now and then hoping for an update ... just not this kind of update. Mom's first cat went to the bridge the same way as Oreo, kidney failure, so this hits pretty close to home for Mom and Dad. Oreo, you will always have a spot in our hearts. You will be missed.

Maggie Monday
I'm not sure Maggie knows how to play in her tent. She keeps turning it upside-down, or rolling it so the entrance is against the floor and trapping herself in it.
The other day, she rolled it, then hid under it ready to pounce someone.
She might be goofy, but she's awful cute, too. Cuteness let's you get away with a lot of things...
Also Happy 3rd Birthday to the Cat Blogosphere blog. They are such a catalyst for all us cat blogs and they do a thankless job keeping it up and going, and keeping us all connected. Thank you so much for your hard work and Happy Birthday!

Easy Like Sunday
We have company this weekend, so I've staked out my spot on the couch early...
Mom and Dad got up real early yesterday and beat the mad crowd at the botanical garden plant sale to get some really cool stuff. They got some elephant ears and some daylilies and a rose bush that is newly discovered in South Carolina (it's purple) ... but I'll make Mom get some pictures of what she picked out because I know Scooby, Shaggy and Scout's Mom wanted to see them.

Finally Friday
I know the big plant sale at our local botanical garden is this weekend ... just another distraction for Mom. So I have two ways I'm going to try to get her to pay attention to me instead of plants:
I can sit on the books.
Or I can tempt her will by floofy belly. Really, how could she choose plant books over this belly?
Also, I forgot to mention it until I saw William's comment from yesterday, but we are a good two hours away from the wildfires. It still worries us because of how bad they are, but we are not in danger. They expect to have them under control soon, though.

Thursday Thirteen #44: Random 13
There are lots of random things to mention, things that often get lost in the shuffle of some of the other posts, so I'm doing 13 random things ...
1. First, and foremost, our Aunt Tiff got a nursing job! Hooray for Aunt Tiffy!
2. We're still following the Kitty Fight Club, and while the first rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club, I'm talking about it...
3. ... so go and vote for Sweet Praline ...
4. ... and also vote for Sanjee. The competitions are getting tougher and tougher.
5. Mom and Dad are totally geeked about the roller derby round robin three squad battle for the SC state championship. (Oh you have no idea how much fun this really is until you've been!)
6. We have a bird's nest in our fern on the front porch. Leave it for just a minute and next thing you know there's a nest with eggs.
This is the momma bird.
7. We met the new kitten down the street. He's a little gray and white tabby that has been coming over and visiting. His name is BoSox and he is Bella's little brother.
8. Bella is the orange cutie who comes over and invades our back deck.
9. Zoey, Zack's BIG sister (and I mean BIG like she waddles like an otter), caught BoSox stealing some of her Mom's attention (and crunchy food) and chased him down the street back to his house.
10. Mom and Dad have even more projects this weekend. I guess I just need to pray for rain on the weekend so we can get some proper snuggle time.
11. I know I mentioned Aunt Tiff's job, but we're so excited for her I'm mentioning it again!
12. Mom and Dad are participating in the Nielsen TV ratings, so they'll be logging their TV watching for the next week starting today...
13. ... I hope they don't get writer's cramp, because they can be TV junkies.

Kitty Fight Club
The two cats I'm pulling for in the Kitty Fight Club are both down (but close) right now. Click over and vote for Sanjee and Sweet Praline. It's getting down to some very tough decisions ... they're all so cute.
Tabby Toesie Tuesday
Mom loves our toes, but I think she loves Maggie's the most. I have the best toehawk, but Maggie has one creamsicle paw that is orange where her other paws are dark. So because of that, Mom ends up taking a lot of Maggie toe pictures.
These are not her creamsicle paws, but they are some great toesies.
This is how Maggie was sleeping when Mom took the picture of her toes.

Mancat Monday
Mom and Dad stayed on the go this weekend ... they had a fund-raising yard sale for a theatre group Mom is involved with that kept them away Friday afternoon and all day Saturday, and then Sunday they spent it in the yard working again. But today I think we'll get some snuggle time with Mom at least.
Huggy Bear is already warming up his spot on the bed. It's a little rainy today so we're hoping that encourages Mom to take it slow and let us snuggle up some.

Thankful Thursday
I want to thank everyone for all the nice birthday wishes. I had a big hairball by noon yesterday, and Aunt Tiff said that if you're puking by noon then you've been partying pretty hard.
As you can see in this picture of Maggie, we're all recovering from a little nip hangover from the birthday party. I'm going to make it by to visit everyone who commented, but it may take some time. (I just don't know how Daisy does it!)
Thanks again to everyone for their nice birthday wishes. All the visitors and nice comments meant so much.

Happy Birthday to Me! (Lucky Number Seven)
Today is my seventh birthday, but because I needed to get pictures for the post, I actually got to celebrate my birthday last night with a stinky goodness cake in the shape of a 7 (but to you, it probably looks like an L).
Mom, Dad and Aunt Tiff went to Target and got me this really cool remote control mouse for me to chase around. Aunt Tiff said it might be more for for them than for us, and she might be right. It sure got Maggie's attention, and drove under HB's belly.
Then we got to have cake. Since I'm the birthday boy I got the first lick of the cake. It was very yummy!
Then I let Dad slice it up and shared with Josie, Maggie and Huggy Bear.
Everyone is welcome to come over and celebrate with us today. The scratchers are all nipped up, and you can help us hunt the new remote control mouse, too.
Also, Maggie has been battling this roll of toilet paper. I think Maggie is winning, but if you want, you can lend her a hand in finishing it off.
And here are a few baby Jasper pictures. I can't believe how little I used to be!
Me with my all-time favorite toy.
I loved sleeping in bowls.
And have always loved sinks.
Mom's favorite baby picture of me.
My first Full Monty.

Outside visitors
Usually our outside visitors consist mainly of neighboring cats intruding on our deck, or maybe a sassy squirrel or two. But with Mom and Dad working in the yard so much the last three days they have seen a lot of other visitors, too.
They saw lots of lizards (or the same two lizards over and over again)...
Huggy Bear really wanted to hunt this one.
But he was really quick and a challenge to get a good picture of.
This was a tiny baby lizard.
And what we assume is the momma lizard hanging out by the catnip plant.
There was a birdy investigating the new hanging ferns on the front porch. I hope she doesn't try to build a nest in the ferns because it'll get all messed up when the plants get watered.
Then the weekend before last, there was this guy:
A rat snake was sunning against the house. Sure, he's non-venomous, essentially a large worm, and chased out of the woods behind the houses across the street by some construction, but still, it's a snake where Mom and Dad would rather not see snakes. Fortunately he wasn't back this weekend while Mom and Dad were doing so much or else this weekend wouldn't have been nearly as productive for them. On the other hand, we might have had more Mom and Dad time...

Happy Easter
We hope everyone has a Happy Easter! It is a beautiful day here today. Mom and Dad have spent all weekend in the yard working, and are getting ready to go back out again. But that's OK, because they've been opening windows for us so we can snoopervise, and we've been getting some quality Mom and Dad time once they come in and collapse from exhaustion. We've got some great lizard pictures on the camera, and another visitor too (but I won't ruin the surprise) ... hopefully they'll be ready for tomorrow's post. Enjoy your Easter and I hope you get some good snuggles today!

Finally Friday
This is what we'll probably be doing a lot of this weekend: watching out the window.
OK, it was raining in this picture, but Mom and Dad are hoping for nice weather so they can do some cleaning up in the yard, and put out some mulch.
This is what's started to bloom out back already. (If you make it big, you'll see all kinds of pollen on it.)
And this is out front. There are tons of daylilies that we just can't wait to see bloom. And the azaleas are blooming right now, too (but no pictures yet).
Hopefully Mom and Dad won't be too busy outside and we can get some quality time too.

The Golden Awardy
Thank you Little Bunny (and everyone at Whippy Curly Tails) for the Golden Award! We're still working on our hiding skills. We aren't quite as good at hiding from the Boogeymanz and Bugbears as Little Bunny is, but we're trying. I hope you get a kitten to play with Little Bunny (and everyone else, go vote on whether they should adopt a beautiful little she-house panther).
I hope to have someone to pass this along to soon ... I'll keep my eyes out for good hiders and house protectors. And I love that this award in the shape of a bunny comes just in time for Easter!

Maggie Monday
... and on Monday, Mom rested. Her play she was helping produce wrapped up on Saturday with a big cast party afterward. Mom had to leave the party early (at 1:15 am) because she had to get up early on Sunday to finish some of the prep work for a friend's 75th birthday that she was catering. The party was a big success and Mom got all kinds of compliments on the food and offers to come cater other events and a few marriage proposals.
Maggie decided to help Mom rest by sleeping on Mom's grocery list. If Mom can't make a list, she can't go anywhere or do anything.

Finally Friday
Wow! This week flew by, most likely because Mom has a million-and-a-half things to do this weekend (and on top of it, she feels like she's getting sick).
This is what we'll be doing this weekend while Mom is running around like a crazy woman. The play concludes on Saturday, which means there's a lot to do for the cast party afterward. Then on Sunday Mom is catering a birthday party for a friend who is turning 75. So she has a lot of irons in the fire right now. And that means a lot of snoopervising by us!

Thursday Thirteen #43 -- No April Fools Jokes
I decided not to do an April Fools post on Wednesday. I had some ideas, but decided not to. Here's what I could have said:
1. We're quitting the blog.
2. We're getting a kitten.
3. We're moving.
4. We're getting a dog.
5. We're sending Maggie to join the circus.
6. Mom's going to start her own theatre (she's spending enough time at Workshop right now anyway).
7. Mom's having a baby.
8. I've had enough, I'm moving across town to live with Sweet Praline.
9. Huggy Bear is going to be Dad's "office cat" and offer therapeutic purrs to the patients. (Is there an insurance code for that?)
10. We're getting jobs to earn our keep.
11. We're going to cat jail after failed a attempt to abduct Cocky, the South Carolina chicken mascot (he's really big, and I bet he'd taste good).
12. The house is being divided into a boy's floor and a girl's floor.
13. Mom and Dad won Powerball and we're going on a Catblogosphere World Tour to visit everyone.
But, alas, none of those are true, and we know how excited people can get about kittens, and moves, and babies, and quitting blogging, so we decided to just do a Wordless Wednesday post instead. But it was a very fun picture of Josie relaxing in the sun with Maggie's shadow. (I wonder if Maggie knew her shadow was visiting Josie?)
Side note (or as mom likes to say Dad's To Do List): Dad's next cat project
