Finally Friday

Oh good, it's finally Friday! Too bad Mom's not feeling hot. But you know what that means...

Maggie napping with Huggy Bear
...we get to curl up in bed with Mom and make her feel better.

Yesterday was Aunt Tiff's birthday, but we get to celebrate with her tomorrow! Hopefully we'll get more food like at the Super Bowl (and maybe get to eat some this time). It's supposed to be nice this weekend, like maybe open-window nice. We're hoping. I hope you all have a great weekend, too.

Finally Friday

After the water bottle incident, Dad felt kind of bad. He needed to get us treats at Target, so while he was there he and Mom also picked up some Fancy Feast Appetizers that were SO yummy, and a new toy for us too.

Josie with the new toy
Josie was quick to claim the toy. She laid on it to make sure no one else would take it from her.

Finally Friday

Maggie bathing in the sun
This is how we plan on spending our Friday, and probably most of the weekend. It's been that kind of week!

Finally Friday

I always love being able to say it's "Finally Friday!" This has been another crazy week, even though I did get to visit a little this week. Mom and Dad promised to get the pictures up this weekend for some posts. We did a Cats in the Window photo shoot yesterday morning before Dad left for work, so we've got some good pictures. It's rainy here, so that means Mom and Dad might have to stay inside with us instead of working in the yard this weekend (but maybe not too rainy that we can't open a window or two).

Finally Friday

It's Finally Friday! We're supposed to have some warm weather this weekend, which means more open windows (and more pictures of us in open windows!) and hopefully some relaxing time with Mom and Dad (although they've threatened to do yard work if it really gets close to 70 outside). Hooray for the weekend!

Finally Friday

It's finally Friday ... Mom and Dad have a Christmas party tonight, but then it's hopefully time with us! I know there's some more shopping they need to do, and hopefully some Christmas cards created and mailed out.

Huggy Bear watching Jeni
Huggy Bear was in snoopervise mode the other night when Mom and Dad were packing the Secret Paws, even though here it just looks like he's hogging the bed. But trust me, he was snoopervising. And I guarantee that he'll be keeping a close eye on Mom and Dad this weekend to make sure we get our quality time.

Finally Friday

It's Finally Friday! And this is a special Friday because it is our friend Sweet Praline's birthday. Happy Birthday Sweet Praline!

Mom has been spending a lot of time at the theatre lately (they have a BIG show going on), so we've been missing Mom and Dad a lot. So we're making up for lost time when they are home by putting our stinks all over them, and sleeping with them, and trying to share their dinner. (Huggy Bear even got some Arby's roast beast the other night.)

I hope everyone has a good weekend. Fall is here, which means hopefully we'll have more open windows soon!

Finally Friday

This has been quite a hectic week for Mom and Dad, so we're happy that today is Friday for them. They'll be visiting some family this weekend though, since it's a long weekend. Mom has a family reunion that they'll be going up to in Ohio.

Maggie in her blanket cave
The other day when Mom and Dad were making the bed, Maggie's blanket ended up on the floor. Maggie was quick to make a Cat Cave in the blanket.

Maggie on her blanket
The sun was hitting it just right for her to cuddle up in a nice warm spot.

Maggie curled up in her blanket
I know Maggie prefers the blanket on the bed, but she didn't seem to mind having it in a sunspot either. I think this is how we'll be spending our Labor Day weekend -- cuddled up and resting. I hope everyone has a restful weekend, too.

Finally Friday

Maggie's makeshift tent
It's finally Friday, and I say take your lead from Little Miss Maggie and snuggle in wherever looks good to you.

We're very happy to say we bought a Daisy the Curly Cat fundraiser sculpture! Have you bought yours yet?

But we're also very sad for our friends Scooby, Shaggy and Scout's Mom, whose nephew's wife died suddenly following a seizure. Please send her some purrs.

Finally Friday

It's finally Friday, and I have a sinking feeling that I need to be sleeping on every duffel bag and suitcase in the house because I heard Mom talking to Aunt Lisa about "the beach" and "the last chance before school starts back" and Mom and Dad were doing a lot of laundry, including beach towels.

Jasper napping on the duffle bag
Unfortunately, I can only protect one bag at a time...

Finally Friday

Boy, this week just seemed to go on and on. Thanks everyone for your input to my question in yesterday's post.

Josie watching out the window
Josie is the patroller in our house. She's the one who will know where the squirrel is first, or if someone is walking a dog, or there's an intruder cat on the back deck. She stakes out all the best perches to watch from. This is her new spot ... on the small old desk in the parlor. Not only is this a good spot to watch the outside activity, but it also insures that she'll be the last one to see anyone before they leave the house so she can put her stink on them at the door. And that's a very important job.

Finally Friday

It's finally Friday, Mom is home, all is right in the house again.

Maggie looking out the window
Maggie can stop looking for Mom out the window and start watching for those silly mockingbirds again. They just keep chattering all night and driving us crazy.

Finally Friday

It's finally Friday, and hopefully some sense of normalcy will return. Dad is staying home this weekend, doing house things so everything looks like it should when Mom gets home next week. Mom's dad is out of the hospital and home, thankfully. Thanks to everyone for their purrs and prayers. I know it has helped, and will continue to help. This has been an incredibly stressful week for Mom, and not just because she doesn't have us curling up with her at night. So knowing that you have been thinking about her has really helped. Hopefully she will trek home on Wednesday. That's the plan right now, so long as everything stays like it has been. Thanks so much for your emotional support. It has meant so much.

Finally Friday

It's Finally Friday -- Dad's half day at work. Unfortunately, Mom and Dad have company coming in late Saturday so it'll be yard work and house cleaning today and some tomorrow. Maggie says this hubbub is in preparation for her birthday on Wednesday. I tried to explain that Mom's birthday is also Wednesday and it's probably more about Mom than Maggie, but she'd hear none of that.

Yesterday, I commented that Maggie is a spoiled sister. Mom is now making me explain why she is spoiled. You see, Maggie was very ill when she was little, and it was very touch and go as a new kitten. She had a bad upper respiratory infection that took her eye. Mom didn't know if Maggie would be around long, so she wanted to give her as much love as she could while she could. Well, Maggie recovered thanks to all of Mom's loving and now she's a spoiled sister.

Maggie "helping" go through the sales papers
Now, she might be spoiled, but she's awful cute too. I have to give her that.

Finally Friday

It's a possibly traumatic Friday, with a guy from AT&T coming to switch us from Time Warner Cable to AT&T U-verse Cable. But the guy could be here for as much as four hours, with us most-likely locked in the bathroom while he does his thing. Yikes.

Four-cat stack
Since Mom and Dad had to move the entertainment center out, it meant the books were all cleared out. And what would a project be without some cat snoopervision? Or more precisely, four cats snoopervising.

Finally Friday

It's finally Friday, and although this was a short week, it was a full week. I'm hoping we've seen the last of the fleas. Just thinking about them brings me down. On a positive note, three cheers to the Feline Greenies Pill Pockets because I do not like to take pills, but I gobbled that up right away, Capstar and all.

Since Mom and Dad are busy volunteering at the theatre (again), I'm going to show you some of the zoo pictures from when Mom and Dad too our favorite sticky people (Gracie and Clara Ann) on Memorial Day.

Momma and baby giraffe
Mom's favorites are the giraffes. Aren't they just beautiful and graceful?

Don't make eye contact
Dad made eye contact with the turtle -- will he never learn? At least the turtle didn't leap on him like the squirrel a few weeks ago.

Of course, my favorite is the lions...

Lion staying out of the rain

Lioness resting on a ledge

Lioness sunning herself

Jasper watching from the desk
(That last one is me...)

Black-footed cat sleeping
And look at this peaceful cat. I need a log to sleep in.

Squirrel at the zoo
Then there was this odd black/white/reddish-brown squirrel. Something like that, I'm glad they have it locked up. Yikes!

Finally Friday

Ah yes ... finally Friday! I think we'll be doing a lot of napping today ...

Josie in the shoebox
Like this...

Maggie in the shoebox (1)
...and this...

Maggie in the shoebox (2)
...maybe a little of this...

Jasper in a box (not the shoebox)
...yeah, you just can't beat a good box for a nap.

Finally Friday

Another Friday, another trip for Mom and Dad. Thankfully this is the last one for a while. But this one is for a very good reason -- Aunt Kelly is graduating from college (Miami University in Oxford, Ohio). There are actually two graduation ceremonies -- one Saturday for the entire university, and then one Sunday for the specific schools (Music Education, in Kelly's case). So we'll be hanging out with Aunt Tiff again.

Josie "sunbathing" with Maggie
Since we're just hanging out this weekend and the weather is supposed to be nice, the girls will probably to some "sunbathing" -- just cat-style. Here's Maggie "sunbathing" Josie the other day. Josie gets a little nervous when Maggie gives her a bath because Maggie tends to go lick, lick, whap. She certainly keeps us guessing.

Finally Friday

Yes, it's finally Friday, which usually means we're getting excited about the prospect of some Mom and Dad time, but not today. Mom and Dad are heading out to Atlanta for a seminar. Fortunately Aunt Tiff is staying home so we'll have someone to give us love and attention and treats.

You may have noticed a lack of Huggy Bear and Josie pictures these last two weeks. This has not been by design -- more that Mom and Dad haven't gotten as many pictures of them. Huggy Bear would much rather get love than pose for pictures, and he's hard to photograph anyway. Josie is good about posing for pictures, it just hasn't happened lately. But next week will be dedicated to Huggy Bear and Josie to make up for things...

We'll be purring for the Sherwood Bunch. Keep them in your thoughts, too.

Finally Friday

I know the big plant sale at our local botanical garden is this weekend ... just another distraction for Mom. So I have two ways I'm going to try to get her to pay attention to me instead of plants:

Jasper and the gardening books
I can sit on the books.

Rub belly or read books?
Or I can tempt her will by floofy belly. Really, how could she choose plant books over this belly?

Also, I forgot to mention it until I saw William's comment from yesterday, but we are a good two hours away from the wildfires. It still worries us because of how bad they are, but we are not in danger. They expect to have them under control soon, though.
