Showing off
Mom and Dad had people over last night working on an adult spelling bee fundraiser they are doing on Friday after the Spelling Bee musical. It should be a lot of fun, having people spell dirty words (or words that sound dirty). But as you may notice -- no picture again today! I don't know what I'm going to do with these people. I was even showing off for them yesterday. With all the people around trying to concentrate, I brought down one of my favorite red fuzzy balls and was whapping it around, and throwing it, and being all kitten-ish (which is very good for an eight-year-old cat). And yet still no pictures -- although I did get lots of pets and ooohs and aaahs!

Maggie Monday
Maggie and I helped with the gift wrapping this weekend. Maggie decided the scraps of paper left over made a good toy, and lucky for her Mom and Dad agreed.

Mom and Dad took turns throwing the ball to Maggie. Sometimes she would bat it back at them, sometimes she would catch it in mid-air. In this one, she's twisting around to get the ball.

Here's Maggie demonstrating her bat down technique.

And this is the mid-air catch. I like this game too, but only when I'm all by myself. Maggie's pounced me a few too many times in mid-catch for me to relax and play with her around. But everything she knows, she learned from me.

*Christmas card update*
Mom has been a slacker, but she finally has Christmas cards that should be going out before Christmas, and arriving before New Year's. (She says she's been real busy "working" -- whatever that means. I think it's code for "neglecting the cats.")

Thursday Thirteen #40: Christmas toys
Sweet Praline asked where I was in yesterday's picture. I was here:

Aunt Tiff brought us Christmas presents when she came for New Year's Eve.
Here are thirteen Christmas presents we got:
1. The motorized feather ball from yesterday that wanders around the kitchen teasing us with feathers.
2. Spikey rattle ball.
3. Fuzzy ball.
4. Another rattle ball.
5. A fuzzy wand toy that Huggy Bear keeps carrying around.
6. More balls.
7. There were lots of balls in the package.
8. I mean a lot of them. I know the picture is blurry, but look at all the balls!
9. A Crazy Cat Woman book for Mom just so it's official.
10. Catnip mouse.
11. A fuzzy mouse.
12. A mouse with a really long tail.
13. The fuzzy ball is worth mentioning twice, because we all keep taking turns hunting it.

Thanks Aunt Tiff for all the great toys! We love them, and even though we have the spread out all over the house, Dad hasn't stepped on any of them and broken them yet, so that's good too.

Olympics cat
Are your Mom and Dad obsessed with the Olympics? Mine are. Which has been OK, because I've gotten a lot of extra love from Mom while she watches the games (and that's making the others jealous, hehe). Some of these sports aren't quite for me. I'm not a swimmer, for sure. I like the balance beam, though. I think I could do that real well. But I think sand volleyball is the best sport for me. It combines batting balls out of the air, and a giant litter box. Who could ask for anything more. And just to show my volleyball ability, Dad and I practiced a little ball hitting.

I'm working on my spike. I won't let the ball get past me. I guess I could be a soccer goalie, too. (Eric's one, two three post reminded me how much I enjoyed this game...)
Also, read today's Lio ... I think we can all relate.
