Huggy Bear is our "Full Monty" cat in our family. Although he missed out on entering the Full Monty portion of the Doing the Q contest this year, he continues to practice.
Plus, he knows it's a great way to get Mom and Dad's attention and to get some serious belly rubs.

Simon's Cat
I'm sure most of us are familiar with Simon's Cat, the very funny short cartoons, but we just found the Simon's Cat website, and two films we hadn't seen yet. Plus there's a book too, and a contest, and he's on Twitter and Facebook. Enjoy!
This blog has heart award
I received this very nice award from Pinky, Ash and Boo, the nice cats from The Fine Felines.
It is always so nice to be acknowledged with awards. I know I'm supposed to pass this along to six blogs. This used to be much easier, but as the Cat Blogosphere has grown and we have become friends with so many great cat bloggers out there, it is always difficult for us to pick just six for fear of forgetting one here or another there. So if you are reading this, it is because you have heart, and so does your blog, so consider yourself awarded, because you deserve it.
Thanks again, Pinky, Ash and Boo.

Finally Friday
It's finally Friday, and I say take your lead from Little Miss Maggie and snuggle in wherever looks good to you.
We're very happy to say we bought a Daisy the Curly Cat fundraiser sculpture! Have you bought yours yet?
But we're also very sad for our friends Scooby, Shaggy and Scout's Mom, whose nephew's wife died suddenly following a seizure. Please send her some purrs.

Tuxie Tuesday: Josie versus the squirrel
OK, it wasn't only Josie who noticed the squirrel, but she was certainly first and the most animated about it.
As soon as Josie saw the squirrel on the deck out back she stood up on the back of the couch and started pawing at the window frame, just itching to get out and chase the squirrel.
We all got very excited and rushed over to see what the commotion was -- well, all but me. I was just hanging out in the kitchen hoping for some chicken. (You see, I know we're indoor cats, and there's no use getting overly excited about an outside thing -- especially when the windows are closed.)
But this is what all the fuss was about. And even with Josie attacking the window and huffing and generally being upset that he was there, this little guy still hung out, scratching himself furiously, for a good minute or two before disappearing high into a tree.
As a reward, Dad got us some fresh nip from the pot out back. Mom and Dad get nip every year to grow, but this is the first time it has made it past the July heat.
It was some good nip, too. HB ate his, Maggie and Josie tussled over some more. As Josie shows here, it was nose-licking good!

Midnight Mancat Monday
Huggy Bear has a knack for finding places where he blends in. He likes to lay at the fireplace, where he will often just disappear. But he also likes this desk. He'll lay out and just hang out. The room also gets some good morning sun, which makes it a perfect morning spot.
We had a squirrel incident yesterday, and got some good pictures. Hopefully we can get them off the camera tonight and get them posted for tomorrow.

Tabby Tuesday
Sometimes you have to be on patrol, and sometimes you just need to take a minute and enjoy a nice summer's day. Maggie is good at doing both. We've had some visitors recently ... birds flying past the windows, neighbor cats perching on our deck ... so it's good to be near the windows. You just never know what you'll see next.

Finally Friday
It's finally Friday, and I have a sinking feeling that I need to be sleeping on every duffel bag and suitcase in the house because I heard Mom talking to Aunt Lisa about "the beach" and "the last chance before school starts back" and Mom and Dad were doing a lot of laundry, including beach towels.
Unfortunately, I can only protect one bag at a time...

Jasper in the sink
It's been pretty hot these past few days, and even though we have air conditioning I still think it's important to find a good cool place to hang out. I have a few favorite spots, but the sink has got to top them all.
Here I am with my classic "turn off that light" pose. It tends to work real well for napping in the middle of the day when the big window is allowing lots of afternoon sun in.
Thanks for all the visits and comments lately. I know this is becoming a refrain, but I haven't been visiting as much as I like and it means so much that my cat friends still pop over and visit. I'm not ignoring you, really. There just seems to be less free time for Mom and Dad to help me visit blogs (unfortunately I do need their thumbs). But we're working on their time management.
I wanted to respond to a couple of comments from yesterday's Wordless Wednesday. I was playing with Mom when the pictures were taken. These were two of a series of pictures of me. I was trying to get the camera strap while Mom was trying to get a picture of me. I think we both had fun, but I think I had more fun. Also, the spots on my nose are freckles and not scratches. Mom and Dad were very concerned when I was a kitten because of a large spot on my lip. But then they learned that freckles are common on orange kittens.
Thanks for all the nice comments ... I appreciate my cat blog friends more than I can really say.

Tabby Tuxie Tuesday
How about a two-fer on Tuesday (Two's-day?) ... It's been so stinkin' hot here that there's little to do other than just nap. OK, the heat is just another excuse to nap, but it's still hot. The heat index was 111 yesterday. I'm not sure what that means, but Dad said it meant it was way to hot for even a minute of garage time.
You know it's too hot when the sisters are just hanging out together, not wrestling or chasing or even hissing. They really do love each other ... Josie just usually expresses it with hisses and Maggie with bites on the butt.

Thankful Thursday
Today were are thankful that Mom is home after a few days checking on her dad. We took turns snuggling up with her last night. It's nice to have Mom back.

Tabby Tuesday
We have a really bad habit of trying to use the very top step of the stairs as a scratcher. We love to lay on our side and just scratch scratch scratch. Mom and Dad have tried all sorts of things ... putting a scratcher at the top of the stairs, spraying us with water, fussing at us ... but none have worked.
The other day at Target, they picked up this scratcher pad to cover the step. We love it ... it gives us our step without us destroying the carpet. A win-win.
Also, if you use Tidy Cat, this week at Target if you buy two, you get a $5 gift card.
And you'll enjoy Lio this week ... he's trying to take his cat to the vet. (The Washington Post Lio page will let you read into the archives some.)

Midnight Mancat Monday
Huggy Bear likes hanging out with Dad in the kitchen. He really likes to flop in the middle of the cool floor right where Dad's about to step.
This is a safer spot for Huggy Bear when Dad's in the kitchen. He's less likely to get stepped on when he's perched on the stool.
[HB has not been stepped on, just close -- Dad's learned to watch his step.]

Easy Like Sunday
Mom's back up in O-HI-O visiting her Dad and making sure he's OK. Dad's been taking good care of us with Mom gone (except that he let our food run out over night last night, and we had to get on him about that this morning -- but he made up for it with treats).
Maggie was keeping an eye on things from the window, too. Dad was out working in the yard, trying to get the grass cut before the rains come.
