Mancat Monday

Thanks for all the nice words about Sassy. She was cremated with her favorite toy, a squeezy duck that was her very first toy and made it through all 16 1/2 years, and is now resting in Aunt Kelly's room where she would want to be. Now, back to happier posts...

Mancat Monday

Even a Mancat can be sad when an old favorite toy has seen it's last day. Pink mouse was hunted a lot, and provided hours and hours of entertainment for Huggy Bear, as well as the rest of us. But it was Huggy Bear's mouse. Unfortunately, it was losing it's stitches, and started to be more of a hazard, so pink mouse had to go.

Huggy Bear said his final farewell. But fear not, I think a trip to Target may net a new pink mouse soon.

The eye came off pretty early in the play, but the loss of the ear was the final blow.

Mancat Monday (with Maggie, too)

Three cats in the window
We had another nice weekend, with more nice weather and even a stroller ride for Maggie! We hope we get a lot more of this. Too bad the weekend had to end.

Mancat Monday

Huggy Bear lounging on the edge of the bed
This is one of Huggy Bear's favorite poses ... lounging on the edge of the bed with one massive paw hanging off the side. He looks a little tuckered out here.

Dad had a little trouble getting pictures to upload to Flickr this weekend, but they're up now so we'll have pictures this week!

Mancat Monday

Huggy Bear and I were very mancatly on Sunday and watched a good bit of the Super Bowl with Mom and Dad. Their team lost, which made them sad. So we've been snuggling with them to make them feel better. Sometimes snuggling is part of being a mancat, too.

Mancat update

Well we did a photo shoot this weekend to have new pictures, and some good ones too, and you know what ... they're still on the camera. These people! Keep this up and I may have to trade them in. But we did get some good snuggle time this weekend, which is very important, and enjoyed some hard rain, too. I hope everyone else had a good weekend, too.

Monday report

Well, Mom and Dad did their job over the weekend and took lots of pictures of us. They took pictures while watching an awful football game. They took pictures while cooking and amazing dinner (that we didn't get to eat any of). So where are the pictures, you ask? Still sitting on the camera! I guess because Mom was busy fixing dinner for 20 people, and Dad was busy making sure Mom didn't lose her mind as she fixed dinner for 20 people, that all of a sudden posting pictures was no longer a priority.

So instead imagine a very mancatly picture of Huggy Bear sitting in an open window from Sunday because it was a beautiful South Carolina November day and we had open windows and Fall air to smell. (The actual picture will probably show up for Wordless Wednesday.)

Mancat Monday

Looking into my eyes
We made it through Halloween. We had some wonderful weather Saturday. So nice even that we had the front windows open so we could patrol and guard the house from all the ghosts and goblins that came around. (Actually, we had more princesses than anything...) Josie was extra vigilant, but she's a girl and this is Mancat Monday, so that's all the credit she's getting here.

Mom is neck deep into a play that she is producing and doing props for. The play opens Friday, and she has promised to give us all kinds of extra love this weekend. But until then, it's late nights for her (and Dad, as the assistant to the producer).

We heard that we were supposed to get an extra hour of sleep Saturday night -- something about turning clocks back. Well, the clocks are still facing the same direction, and as far as I know, I slept the same amount. But I'll take an extra hour if it's available.

Mancat Monday

Huggy Bear is our "Full Monty" cat in our family. Although he missed out on entering the Full Monty portion of the Doing the Q contest this year, he continues to practice.

Plus, he knows it's a great way to get Mom and Dad's attention and to get some serious belly rubs.

Midnight Mancat Monday

Contemplative Huggy Bear
Huggy Bear has a knack for finding places where he blends in. He likes to lay at the fireplace, where he will often just disappear. But he also likes this desk. He'll lay out and just hang out. The room also gets some good morning sun, which makes it a perfect morning spot.

We had a squirrel incident yesterday, and got some good pictures. Hopefully we can get them off the camera tonight and get them posted for tomorrow.

Mancat Monday

Two mancats watching football
Just a couple of Mancats sitting around watching meaningless pre-season football with Dad (an honorary Mancat) and enjoying the heck out of it. The games might not count, or mean much (except for those players trying to make the team), but it's just nice to have football back.

Mancat Monday

While Huggy Bear is about the biggest lover in the house, he also likes to show off his mancatliness every now and then. The other morning he was posed in a very mancatly way on the stairs.

Huggy Bear on the stairs
He was in a nice, midway-up perch where he could take in a good view of everything going on in the front part of the house and out the front windows by the door.

Mancat Monday

Huggy Bear upstairs
I think Huggy Bear missed Mom the most. This weekend he was at her side constantly. He is such a softy, to be such a big mancat.

Mancat Monday

How about double the Mancat!

Black and tan
Sometimes Huggy Bear and I will hang out together. We don't necessarily snuggle, but we get along good enough that we can share the same space without it turning into a wrestling match in 10 seconds. Plus this is a great spot to watch out the window, so it's worth sharing.

Mancat Monday

The sheets were being washed, so what's a mancat to do?

Mancat Monday

Snoopervising Mom is a very important job for a Mancat. Mom cuts the good articles out of her magazines and saves them in three-ring binders so magazines aren't just piled all over the house.

Jasper "helping" Jeni with her magazines
I'm helping Mom by napping in her metal basket that holds her articles. To the untrained eye, this might look uncomfortable, but it is actually just the right size and one of my favorite places to nap.

Mancat Monday

Jasper in the sun
Just a quick update post ... Mom and Dad made it back from the Smoky Mountains safe and sound, and they have a million pictures of trees and hills to go through, but no vishus deer or non-huggy bears to report.

I held the fort down for them while they were away, and we gave them lots of attention as soon as they got back home. As usual, Aunt Tish came by and gave us treats and straightened up so Mom didn't know we partied too hard (one chair down in the living room from chasing).

We're glad Mom and Dad had a nice getaway with Dad's parents, but we're even more glad that they are home again.

Mancat Monday

Part of being a Mancat is tolerating photo shoots.

Upside-down Jasper on the cedar chest
At first I was sitting on the chest by the window soaking in the sun, doing my cute, upside-down pet-me face to Dad.

Jasper pawing at the camera
This was at the end of the photo shoot when I was ready for it to be over. The shadow on the left side of the picture is me bringing my paw to the camera trying to get Dad to quit, which he did. You know what, this is his favorite picture of the shoot, too, so I guess it worked out for both of us.

Mancat Monday

A good Mancat will share the table with his sister ...

Jasper and Josie
...at least that's what Mom says I'm supposed to do.
