It's been a tough week in the Blogosphere with bad news about Skeezix, and Ginger Jasper struggling ... so I figured we needed to see a video of kittens to make things better.

Yip got adopted!
Remember a while back when Mom was at work and found a sad scared kitten? The kitten ended up being named Yip because he yipped all the way to the kitten rescuer's house. The nice lady who fostered him said Yip was the best little kitten she'd ever been around and that he had the best personality and would just sit in her lap and look at her and talk to her. Well, Midlands Kittens had their adoption day the other day and Yip was adopted out to a nice mother and daughter. And better yet, Yip was adopted with a little sister cat named Pooh, so he'll have a companion. Yip was very very very close to becoming our new tee-tiny little brother (close call!). We are very happy for him and his new forever home!

Jasper as a kitten

This is me as a kitten. I used to love curling up in bowls. Now I use the sink instead. Dad was supposed to be uploading some new pictures, but then I curled up in front of the keyboard, made him rub my belly and purred real loud so we're going with a cute kitten picture instead. He can upload those other pictures later. (They were of the siblings anyway...)

Rescued kitten

Mom was able to snap a picture of the kitten that was rescued the other day. This was before she could actually get to the kitten to grab him. He was asleep when they got him, which was why they could. When he was awake, he'd move further back into the bush, hiss and whap the ground with his tiny paws. Curled up, he fit in the palm of Mom's hand. They named him Yip because he yipped all the way home with Samantha from the rescue group. He went to the vet yesterday and will hopefully have a home soon.

Mom is a hero
Mom helped save a baby kitten yesterday. She was at work and she could hear the crying of a scared baby kitten. Mom could see it, hiding deep in the shrubs near a very busy intersection. Mom was worried to death about the kitten, but just couldn't quite get it. So she called Dad, and he contacted Midlands Kittens Rescue, a local feral cat fix and release group. They came over and when they got there the kitten was sleeping and could be reached. So they got the tee-tiny kitten (named Yip because he yipped the whole time in the car), and will get him to a vet and get him adopted to a good home. They're coming out tomorrow to try to get momma cat.

Kitten rescue
Mom and Dad came home last night smelling like other cats and drooling dogs. We were tempted to be offended, but then we realized they had been by Midlands Kittens, a local feral cat and kitten rescue group. Mom and Dad delivered 144 cans of stinky goodness and 160 pounds of kitty litter. And they got to see some kittens that were born just minutes before they arrived. It was an exciting detour on the way home, but Mom may have caught kitten fever while she was there.

Kitten overload
Mom and Dad were visiting some friends when this bunch of kittens and their mom and dad showed up. Mom and Dad's friends live out in the country and they end up with lots of kittens and cats, so they put food and milk out for them to keep them nourished.

Here's momma cat on the left, and dad cat on the right, with the three kittens.

They're very content to hang out so long as we're on the other side of the door. But they run run run real fast the other way when we try to offer some love.

But momma cat is a good momma, and takes care of the kittens. And dad cat is very watchful, too.

And they feel safe enough on the deck to form a kitten pile. And you just can't beat that!

Big day today
Today is a very big day. First, this morning, our Aunt Tiff is taking her NCLEX nursing exam today. Please purr for her. She's very prepared, but a few purrs wouldn't hurt.
Then tonight the musical that Mom has been dedicating so much time to as producer opens. We have company coming in, so we'll also have a few extra people in the house.

And while I'm doing an update, last weekend Mom and Dad were visiting at Lisa and Brian's where the kittens from last month live, including Jackson, who helped with some of the birthday gift opening for Lisa and Brian's girls (Gracie and Clara Ann).

But the gift unwrapping wore the little kitten out and he fell asleep on Gracie's new sleeping bag curled up with her gifts.

Tuxie Tuesday
Continuing the kitten theme from yesterday, today we are going to up the cuteness by combining a kitten and a two-year-old.

Clara Ann is playing with Jackson on Super Bowl Sunday, and learning that kittens use their tiny sharp claws when they play. She is so excited to have Jackson and Juliette to play with, and follow and squee at when she sees them. I think kittens have some kind of magical, addictive property.

Poor Bear
First it was meep, now Bear ... we are so sad for our friends. We will be thinking a lot about Twizzler, and praying he stays healthy. It is so good of their beans to take in ill cats and give them love, and that is what we choose to think about during sad times like these.
And, since this is sad, and you have to smile when you see kittens...

This is Jackson (top) and Juliette (below) snuggling during the Super Bowl. Juliette, of course, is who you guys helped name. Yaffa, Sebastian and Dante got their gifts and posted a great video, too.
Everyone, have a happy and healthy day, please.

Tuxie Tuesday: Kitten Edition
As promised, I have super cute kitten pictures. If your Mom has a tendency to squee, look away now.
Mom and Dad and Aunt Tiff went over to Lisa and Brian's on Sunday (they are the mom and dad of the sticky girls who give us treats). Lisa and Brian live in the country and are a cat-magnet house. They seem to attract tuxedo cats, and one (Shelby) just had kittens.

This is little Julianna. She is Gracie's new kitten, and will probably become an inside cat. Gracie keeps sneaking her inside anyway, and Julianna likes to try to slip in the garage door.

Here are Guido and Bandit. Guido is on the left. He has a black spot on his chin (resembling a soul patch/goatee, which is his namesake). Bandit has the bandit's mask black coloring across his eyes. Brian has grown very fond of Guido. Bandit is very sweet, and purrs the instant anyone picks him up. He also likes to follow people around (and might just follow Mom and Dad home, maybe).

Here's another Julianna picture. Isn't she a beauty? (Mom thihks she's a he, which might make him Julian.)
OK, enough kitten overload for one post...
