Funny guy
So Mom and Dad were watching the Daily Show and there was a commercial for a stand-up comedian who made the observation: "Cats are only one foot tall, but somehow their butts are always eye level." It's a cat skill that obviously we work hard at doing well.

Tree cat
I saw this story from the Free Kibble Kat question from today, in case you missed it. This kitten was born in the tree and decided to just stay up there. It's a big tree, and I bet little Almond has lots of fun climbing and exploring. But I have to wonder where the cat's litter box goes...

Watching the Golden Globes
Mom had friends over to watch the Golden Globes last night. Sure, it actually aired a week ago but they couldn't watch it live so they had a little party where they could fast forward through the bad parts. We actually got to hang out with them, and Dad even gave us some bacon. I think we need more parties like that (especially the bacon part).

Mancat Monday
Thanks for all the nice words about Sassy. She was cremated with her favorite toy, a squeezy duck that was her very first toy and made it through all 16 1/2 years, and is now resting in Aunt Kelly's room where she would want to be. Now, back to happier posts...
Huggy Bear says it's OK for a Mancat to want to play Just Dance 2! He likes to help pick the songs...

Sassy goes to the bridge
Dad's parent's dog Sassy went to the bridge on Wednesday afternoon at 3:35 following multiple system failure. She was 16-1/2 years old, and a very good friend to Dad's dad. She was supposed to be Aunt Kelly's dog, and she was, but there was no denying the connection to Pop either. Mom and Dad have always commented on what a difference Sassy made for him. Sadly, she passed the day before Pop's birthday.
This was Sassy's favorite spot. Although I never met her, I could tell she had good taste, because I know I would have also sat on the landing of the stairs where I could watch everything that went on in the house too.
Sassy had a huge smile, and loved Mom, although Mom is not a "dog person." Sassy liked to lick Mom's toes, which did not always make Mom happy, but it was how she showed her love of Mom (or maybe Mom had dirty toes). Sassy was also a veggie dog. She loved to snack on radishes and baby carrots. I don't get that.
I'm sure Sassy is playing with Fluffy (Mom's cat-who-came-before) at the Bridge. They got to meet once, when Mom and Dad were moving to Iowa. I think there was some barking and hissing, but I'm sure they're getting along fine now.
Sassy, you will be missed. Rest in peace sweet little one.

Square blue box
So Dad thought the picture of me getting in the box was funny, and I guess it was. But I actually did fit in the box. See:
I think this is a perfect fit for me.
If it had a lid I could spring out like a Jasper in the Box.
Once I got out Maggie had to try it. It's now as snuggly for her as it is for me.
This box actually had a really cool gift from Aunt Cathy. It's the Cat Tao Glasses with cat pictures and saying on the glasses. I think all our beans need these glasses.
---
We got snowed in on Monday and Tuesday. We were expecting a lot of snow and ice by South Carolina standards and Mom and Dad both had work canceled on Monday and Tuesday so we got to hang out with them and snuggle a lot. There was a good three inches of snow and 1/4 inch of ice on the driveway. You'd think that Mom and Dad would have helped me visit my friend's blogs, but they had friends stay over for a "snowcation" and they sat around and watched a bunch of movies instead. But we did get to snuggle and got lots of treats for being good with company. I hope everyone is staying warm.

Snowy Christmas
This was the scene on Christmas Day. Snow here, in South Carolina.
I've seen snow before, being born in Illinois and living in Iowa for a few years, so I know what the stuff is. Mom and Dad actually thought they were funny when I was a kitten and put the leash on me and let me stand in the snow. I hopped around twice, then went back inside. I'm no fool.
Huggy Bear wasn't really sure what the stuff was. This is only the second time he's seen snow in his life. But that may change. The weather people are actually saying it may snow here this weekend or Monday. I'm not sure what's going on with the weather, but I think Mom and Dad moved to South Carolina to get away from the snow. I hope everyone is staying warm with this weird weather right now.
Maggie in the tree
Maggie's been spending some time up in the Christmas tree. She really didn't seem to remember this game until after all the presents were unwrapped. Then all of a sudden she couldn't help herself. She'd climb up, Dad would get her down, and she'd go right back up. I think Mom and Dad have given up trying to stop her. The tree's stayed up longer than planned, but is coming down this weekend. If it were up to Maggie, she'd leave it up all year long.

Tabby Tuesday
Maggie decided to show off last night and got up on the new dresser and started posing for Mom and Dad.
Here she is laying on the dresser pretending not to notice Dad taking her picture.
This was Mom's favorite, with her paws tucked under and her tail wrapped around her feet.
Here's a close-up of Maggie's tail.
And here's Maggie trying to figure out who that pretty girl is behind her.

Boxing Day
I know sometime after Christmas is Boxing Day -- well, I observe boxing day almost any day I can. We've had company lately so all the boxes have been put up, but now that the holidays are wrapped up I think I'll insist that Mom and Dad pull a box back out for me.
I hope everyone had a very Happy New Year and that there weren't too many fireworks or anything. Ours was very nice, and we even got to socialize some with Mom and Dad's friends at the end of the night. Mom and Dad even had a brunch with friends on Sunday that we were invited to, although we didn't get any of the bacon. But we did get to have some open window time on Sunday, so that made up for no bacon.
