Last whine about change

You know for some of us, change doesn't come easy. A while back Blogger made some template changes that allowed some more, easier user controls for the templates and the addition of gadgets like the followers badge. The issue that I had when I changed was I lost my old comments. The older Blogger template had added comments a few years earlier, but that was after I started using Haloscan. So I decided to forego the gadgets and keep the old comments. Until Haloscan changed and I learned they would charge to host comments. I could have kept the old template with my stat tracker and added Blogger comments, but decided that, since I'm already changing, I'd rather have access to gadget like the followers in the sidebar. That really has more value than some abstract stats anyway. It really is interesting to see how the entire blogging scene has evolved over the last five-and-a-half years. And although I was a little fussy earlier, I'm excited now, and look forward to seeing how things will look in another five years.

Changing things is a worry for us too. A year ago we wanted to change to 'New Blogger' but were so worried about importing our blog and losing it that we decided to start from scratch and keep the original blog as archives. We weren't sure if we had done the right thing at the time, but are glad we did now as there is so much more that can be done with the new template.

I know how you feel! You went through the same thing I did. I did not want to change to the "new blogger" either, so I just left the template alone, until about 3 weeks ago when I got that email from Haloscan. Then I was lost in a maze of changes. It was only after updating to the new blogger did I see that all of my consternation was for naught. I couldn't have brought the comments with me anyway. MY counter stopped working (it was Bravenet -- I think they went under like Haloscan) a few years ago. Like you I wonder why blogger itself doesn't do this. You are right the changes in blogdom have changed so much in the 5 years we've been blogging and it's amazing to see the changes in the CB!

I'm too timid to try migrating to the New Blogger....maybe someday when I will be brave.

Change is good for you! Hee! Hee!

Seriously, I started blogging almost two years ago and I'm glad that blogger is simpler now.

One thing I like about the newish Blogger is the plethora of templates you can get off-site...and if you know a tony bit of HTML you can change those a little. I just wish I had a smarter Woman so she could tweak things more than she can...
