I'm so excited...my mom got home last night. Josie, Huggy and myself have not left her sight all day. We snuggled up with her last night, and I even got under the covers right up against her legs. I love my mom. She rules!
The best part about having mom home is she gives us fresh food all day long. And I get to sleep on her suitcase. It's one of my favorite napping places.

Warm spot
Josie is so nice to lay at dad's feet when he's on the computer. She just moved after making a nice warm spot for him to rest his feet on. It's how she shows her love. How do you show your love?

While mom's away...
Mom has gone to Jackson, Miss. for the weekend to visit her family. We are staying here with dad. Mom was flying Delta from Columbia, S.C. to Cincinnati, Ohio, then to Jackson, Miss. She wanted to fly through Atlanta instead of Cincinnati, but that flight was full. Well, weather was bad in Cincinnati, so her flight was delayed and she missed her connection in Cincinnati, so she ended up flying through Atlanta also. But her luggage didn't make the next connection, so it won't arrive until 9:00 tonight. Her mobile phone charger is in her luggage, so she hasn't been able to call too much and talk to us. We miss our mom when she's away. She's great to nap with.
Summer Breeze
As Josie slept by the back door, I thought: "Summer breeze, makes me feel fine, blowing through the jasmine in my mind."
Josie was originally going to be named Jasmine, but mom and dad thought having to "Jazz" names might cause some confusion. I think in the end, Josie is a perfect name for her.

She's a bug hunter
Josie has joined the ranks as a bug hunter now. She hunted down a bug today. Caught it, played with it, then ate it. That's my little sister!
My mom tried to get the bug from Josie, but she's too fast for mom.

Black and Tan
Birds in the box
With Spring in the air, we've had a bit of entertainment. We live in an apartment and it seems someone got creative with the cable box on the backside of our building where mom and dad's window faces. The cover has been removed and many wires have been pulled out. Mom immediately thought someone was stealing cable, and that this may also be the source of some of their bad reception. She called the cable company, and they scheduled a crew to come and look at it ... in about five weeks. In the meantime, a bird has nested in the box, which is providing all kinds of entertainment for the kittens and me. A silver lining, I guess.

New litter
Mom and dad are trying out some new kitty litter -- CitraMax -- that is supposed to be pretty good stuff. It's not scooping litter like before. It actually looks like potpourri, but we're taking to it ok. Dad wasn't so sure tonight when he came home, though, because he said the apartment smelled a little "catty," whatever that's supposed to mean. It could be because the apartment was closed up without the air on and it was muggy outside because I didn't think the box was all too bad itself. But the litter was free as a trial (free coupon on the bag, found at Petsmart and Target). If it doesn't work out, they can always use it as mulch or potpourri. Well, it's starting to storm so I guess I need to shut this down...
Naughty Bear
Huggy Bear has been a very naughty kitten the last two days. Last night he decided he HAD to have mom's straw that was in the giant Sonic cup. But in the process of trying to get the straw out of the cup, he pulled the cup off the bar and spilled about a million ounces of sprite with cherry add-in all over the floor. Mom went into panic mode because she was so afraid it was going to leave a huge red stain on the carpet. But thanks to Resolve she able to clean it up.
Then this afternoon, Huggy was licking a bowl on the counter and got so excited he licked it off the counter, and shattered it. Luckily, neither Josie or I were under him when it happened. But mom was so sad because it's one of her favorite bowls. The set of pasta bowls was given to them as a wedding present.
I thought mom was going to very mad about that the bowl breaking, but she just said "Ugh, Huggy." Kittens will be kittens.

Cat blog links
I'm trying to be better about keeping up with links to the blogs of the other cats who visit mine and comment. If I've missed yours, please let me know. Thanks.
Oh no ... Momma cat had kittens
Well, we knew it was coming, what with the neighbors not taking proper care to spay Momma cat. This morning, Momma cat wandered onto our porch with a couple of kittens exploring safely behind. Another orange, short-haired cat accompanied them. While none of the kittens resembled this orange cat, we assume maybe he's dad. Hard to tell with all the free-range cats in the apartment complex. The kittens haven't returned yet today, but mom and dad are concerned that this is a trend that must be stopped. Our apartment backs into some woods, and we suspect that Momma cat has been staying in the woods and the kittens have been there with her. we hope this is the case, so they can learn to thrive on their own, explore new terrain, and be safe from the occasional traps the apartment management sets.
